Future of Fishing: events, class quests, gameplay, legendary fish

So as Fishermen, where do we see the game in the future, what do we want, and what are some general ways to improve gameplay? Feel free to share any ideas you want. Most of what I'm going to post is assuming that the general way FSH is played will not be changed too much. =)

    Events:
Fishing inside of instances- This could be for a larger variety of fish in a certain grade node, or for specific fish for different, useful recipes.

Repeat instances similar to moblin maze mongers fishing. Team up with other fishermen to pull in fish that build up points against competitive npcs for a set duration. The rewards could range from DoH exp buff accessories, to good DoH gear. That really depends on the level of the instance.

Size and length of fish competitions held by npcs in Eorzea. Due to the face most fish stack, this might take a little thought by SE, but it was very enjoyable.

I'm excited to see how FSH will be useful in the coming Hamlet defense, but something tells me it may just be a supply thing lol

Certain weather conditions being met for particular things to happen. Rare red storm or darkness weather in a zone it doesnt belong appears and changes what you can gather.

Better boat ride fishing, more boat routes elsewhere, and boat ride events (storms/pirates that effect fish possible)

    Class Quests:
The big issue here, is what all FSH should strive for, the Rod of the Luminary. Once the level cap raise comes, what will become of the rod? If we picture standard crafted items linearly increasing in usefulness (though you should take note that rods usually switch between increasing gathering to make the next grade node easer, to increasing perception, to make it easier to find hq items), the RoL would eventually be passed up. Unless, through questing it can become better.

As for the actual class quests themselves, they were entertaining, though certainly creepy at times lol silly pervert lalafel. A little bit of seriousness in the future to coincide with that would be lovely. Perhaps some sort of class with the sahagin, in terms of fishing competitiveness.

Fish gutting, an npc could handle this allowing for items to only be obtained this way.

Quests that are very out of the way and take time, but are well worth the rewards: Like a famous fisherman npc in Coerthas that lets you build up points with him to purchase items, or he could send you on a very specific mission etc What I would really like to see as a reward for something hard in the future is a real fishing hole map item. One that you can use and alters what you fish up (like the ability to fish up some stuff otherwise unobtainable) until you use it again.

    Gameplay:
Dear gods, grade 6 nodes please. This was commented on by SE a while ago but hasn't been touched on in a while. Basically they should stay 1 node ahead of w/e the current cap is.

Perhaps a useful way to use mp? Self buffs or gatherer techniques or exp bonus.

3D pop up text with exp bonus for whatever SE decides to do with mp/item bonus etc

Weather to have a more profound effect

More utility for the class. Just like the addition of paints and catalysts gave gatherers some utility, things like this bring want and meaning to a class.

    Legendary Fish and Rare Fish
Rare Fish can be for good recipes, quests, and for legendary fish. You would always have a decent chance are rare fish, they wont be gamebreaking or anything and could even offer an exp bonus when caught

Basically 3 types of legendary fish should be considered:
Trophy Fish, Hard to catch/rare/requirements, used for nothing
Quest Fish, hard to catch, used for quests like fishing hole map or other goodies
Recipe Fish, hard to catch, but used in high level useful recipes.

These would pretty much require rare rate + abilities from DoH classes or things like weather requirements or particular events to be fished up. Would love to see achievements for them, and maybe text overlay to pop up when caught like light/full party buff.

So what would you like to see? A place in end game? allowing DoH players to find shortcuts? more mid level content? more quests? Fish to have more use?

I approve of all these ideas, and would also like to comment on trophy fish.

When mog houses get implemented (insert 2.0 joke here), and just like in FFXI, it would be awesome to be able to get a decorative item made and mount the fish on your wall.

I would definitely like to see more end game content for Fisher and all gathering/crafting classes. I like all the ideas you proposed, and would definitely like to see gathering in instances against NPCs, which could provide content for people leveling in the higher ranges, since I really don't see SE implementing grade 6 since they took away that grade 10 area near broken water.

    Thanks!

I like your idea of trophies made from the legendaries to adorn your house. We could go a step further and while they're in your house they could provide special (weak) buffs.

Also if they could add a third or fourth leve we could pick up from npc (goes for btn and min too) that would use both main hand and off hand to complete. This would really help with leveling. ATM we have to go back and forth to town every 2 leves.

When Mog Houses get implemented and the level cap is raised, I'm perfectly ok with hanging my luminary rod on the wall. A trophy of times past, and utter madness.

21,960 fish SE. Twenty one thousand, nine hundred and sixty. My god.

Other than that, the biggest thing I'd want as a fisher is my own boat. Just a little thing. How cool would that be :P.

I'll like that they change the mini game to something more complex and fun, right now the mini-game is really flat and easy. You just have to find one "sweet spot" and you get the fish...

BTW i have the lum rod, after geting it i just can find why i should keep fishing. With all the fish i get i lvl my alc to 50 and i'm lvling my cul too. I'll like some kind of hard fish to catch and some quest like Inside the Belly.
