Thoughts on PLD changes

Lot of silly arguing here.

Clemency is a mitigation tool. As someone who mains both paladin and white mage it’s scary how squishy all of the tanks are in the pre 70 leveling roulette dungeons. I will use clemency on myself or others as I see fit.

I might dps. I might stun. I might let that dancer who keeps pulling for me as if they are doing me a favor tank the pull on their own. Shrug.

I've been noticing this myself, actually. Most recently the Vault has been extremely painful for me, using mostly level 55 gear from the Aery. One run it was fine-ish, some very painful moments with the waves of guards before the first and second boss but otherwise fine, which was with a sprout WHM. Next run, with a level 80 SCH, and there were many wipes. I wasn't sure if it was the healer being bad or if it was me being bad, and I honestly still couldn't say, but I then went on to run Great Gubal Library using the same gear, with a sprout SCH and it was perfectly fine. To me it feels like there are certain little trouble spots while leveling where things are just extremely painful, just a few sudden large spikes in difficulty. I mean, difficulty spikes are to be expected as you level up, but this was less a spike and more a wall. Something feels off.

I've used Clemency a handful of times since getting it. I usually don't feel the need to, but if I feel like I'm about to die, I'll use it. Like 95% of my Clemency uses have been in the Vault so far though...

I can somewhat understand where the feelings are coming from. As a healer, you play to heal. It feels good to know the party survived through your efforts. I've recently come to realize this in a similar manner. As a tank running through old content, I don't feel useful or have a satisfying experience when the party doesn't allow me to do my job as a tank. I came to absorb damage and keep enmity, not so i can watch a ranged dps sprint ahead and run circles and around enemies as a makeshift tank.

The point being, we choose a class to play because we want to fill that role. If the situation arises where help is needed then by all means. I just don't think it's doing anyone a favor or lending to their enjoyment by taking the opportunities from them.

This is honestly absurd about clemency. I can say that after a dungeon run today as the healer just DPS'ed the entire time. Just nothing but Holy Spam and I would get down to 20k HP. If I see a WHM spamming Holy and i'm that low I can expect a Benne at some point. But 25k HP? If I have to burn a CD because a healer just wants to NOT heal then they should have rolled a DPS.

I proceeded to Clemency away, and not just one. I went insta cast requeiscat clemency spam. poof! Full HP in like 5 seconds. AND THEY GOT ANGRY! Saying "I got you, just DPS and let's get this over with." I told them you can just keep using Holy since I can really heal myself during trash. And they said "I'm the healer let me heal!" I said" Would you please then so I don't have to?" He left without saying anything and soon the whole group since healers are harder to find then tanks.

Is this the new style of healing? If it is then I suppose healers should get used to PLD throwing down mass quantities of Clemency for a slight DPS loss overall. What confuses me more is WAR's have nascent flash, and DRK has souleater, and GNB has aurora. Every tank has a heal in some manner, and i'm guessing that nobody is scowling over simple heals like that. PLD is the only tank with a massive direct heal, and we rightly should because we used to have cure 1 if some can remember. Now we have to be looked down on for a skill that is actually super helpful and synergies with requeiscat?

Benediction. It's an oGCD healing ability that heals you to full health and you can use it while spamming Holy. There's also Tetra, Asylum and Benison.

Just because the healer doesn't hand hold and keep you at 100% all the time doesn't mean they are not healing so your questioning their healing is a bit unjustified. Only if you actually die there's a point. 1% is the same as 100% really.
