I was at work all day and never had a chance to respond. Ugh. So...

AreeyaJaidee: In the OP, you suggested a title for people who have been 'playing since the beginning' with either collector's edition or without.

Can we assume that the majority of the player base (RIGHT NOW) are people that began at the beginning? After the terrible reviews hit soon after launch, not many people found interest in this game. That's why they made it 'free to play' for a while. This may be changing (steadily) now, but we won't see a HUGE jump in active players until 2.0. Don't get me wrong... I love the game, but that's besides the point.

So, your title suggestion would basically be given to the majority of us... for, as someone else said, doing nothing... I have been playing frequently enough, but I have a friend who has only played a handful of times since launch (despite having the CE). Do we both deserve the 'Veteran' title?

Now, in response to that post asking if you want 'something for nothing', you defended yourself by saying "I'm always doing something in FFXIV every time I log in," more or less solidifying the point that YOU are active... which I'm sure you are. You became defensive even though YOU are very clearly active (as is indicated by your level 50 class attached to your forum avatar...)

When I made a post suggesting that titles be harder to earn (so that only people who REALLY spent the time playing and exploring the lore etc would receive it), you shot it down... even though it is an EXCLUSIVE title I'm sure YOU would earn too. So why did you shoot my idea down if you would be one of the people to have it?

All I'm seeing in this thread is unnecessary arguments. Basically, if someone agrees with you... great! If they don't, you start flinging insults punctuated by the passive-aggressive 'huggles' at the very end. I don't understand it. Are you seriously offended when people have a different opinion than you? Perhaps you shouldn't start controversial threads if you don't like hearing other people's opinions? Like I said before... everyone's entitled to them and you should be a bit more respectful of that.

Most people in the XIV community are very friendly. There are a few oddballs out there, but don't start saying this community is 'so endearing' when YOU are the one that is being aggressive here. We're just trying to have a discussion and you're derailing your own thread with your unnecessary passive aggression.

I changed the OP to reflect an active Achievement which would be based on hours to days actively played. Kinda like how SE nows you killed X amount of enemies for the Butchers Crown.

In regards to my being passive aggressive:

I understand ppl are entitled to their own opinions.

If you read the thread carefully Im being patronized with carefully formulated insults by several of the posters in this thread. THAT's the issue.

I had a simple request thread which turned into this BECAUSE i refuse to let ppl insult me or my ideals because they "feel" like it.

Ive stated several times that a simple but polite "yes/no and why" would have done the trick.

Start at the beginning of this thread and read: very first post someone is being a smartass and mocking me. So of course i defended myself.

Now this has escalated to the point where no one is reading the entire truth. Only blaming for being defensive.

I have every right to be annoyed. Every person who has berrated me on this thread did so intentionally which is proven by the fact that they kept on doing it.

My OP is simple. Idc if ppl saw it as epeen. I meant the thread for good purposes and it pisses me off to see it so common across this forum.

We need an option for a simple yes/no or multiple answer only thread because ppl like the ones mocking me in this thread cannot maintain peaceable conversations.

Its always about "being more right" than the other person.

For me, it's not about 'being more right'. It's just an opinion, and that's all ANY of us have. People post more than 'yes' or 'no' because there is more to say than 'yes' or 'no'. I would rather have explained my opinion than simply said "NO I DON'T LIKE YOUR IDEA," because I do like your idea to an extent. Basically, I think you're 'onto something' and I want to expand on it. If people didn't elaborate on their opinions, you would not have changed the original OP, as you said you did. This is an open discussion where everyone can participate.

I went back and read the first response (and then recalled that I had read it before, when I first became involved in this thread). I do not think the original response was intended to be rude toward you. I think the person was just joking. Had I seen that post in response to my thread, I probably would have just laughed it off or ignored it (because it is essentially not a part of the active discussion). Every sort of 'entitlement' you get in a videogame is jokingly referred to as an 'epeen extension' because everyone thinks they're SO COOL because they have a better piece of equipment/title/achievement than someone else.

I think you are taking people's posts too seriously. I think you are getting offended too easily, and people are then turning around and getting annoyed as a result. Don't take things so seriously. It's just a game and we're all just talking about some imaginary thing on some imaginary world. By becoming defensive toward things that may or may not be insults (many of them are gray areas), you are 'fueling the fire'.

    Mm, now I have what I want... ^^;;;;;

I'm also with the other people as far as playing XI for a looooong time and never feeling the 'need' for entitlement. In place of 'titles', we have memories. When I can sit around and reminisce with someone about when killing Kirin was an amazing accomplishment, or that WE did Promyvion 'when it was hard', that's enough for me. They're fun memories and a reward in and of itself. I can feel this effect with FFXIV, even now. "Remember when we did group parties at 20 when XIV came out, and CNJ almost never got any SP? Haha, those were the days!"

Achievement Unlocked: Read 162 posts in one sitting.

    Here are my thoughts!

I cannot foresee it being incredibly difficult to administer titles based on an EQUAITON, factoring in all the variables everyone's mentioned. You can have MULTIPLE equations, resulting in different titles, and you can have MULTIPLE TIERS of a type of title. No reason to have titles based on one single metric.

Some variables you can plug in and go crazy with:
    quests_completed
    time_logged_in
    account_created
    mobs_killed
    gather_or_harvests
    dungeon_duration
    kilometers_walked
    zone_transfers

Heck, now that I think about it, these metrics are already tracked, perhaps simply adding values to each of the current achievements, and having a 'master' titled, or rather, 'cumulative' title simply be a function of the values of all other earned titles. This would scale really well, methinks, though it is 1:30AM and I'm about to turn in. Hmm :/

I don't think the OP's request for l33t titles is really anything to complain about. If we're worried about DEV resources spent on something quite as trivial, we've got bigger things to worry about. I personally dislike the idea of titles, as someone mentioned, probably Majidah (you level-headed son of a gun), EVERYONE WILL HAVE IT! (Yes flamers, I know not EVERYONE will have it, but damn near everyone in my LS will have it, and that's who I spend most of my time with, so for my sake, yes everyone will have it).

I do, however, like the idea of the variables I mentioned earlier amounting in to some type of currency that could be traded in for some exclusive, pre 2.0, or beta, or alpha, or whatever other time-period nit-pickers will rage about type of inventory. Something not simply of novelty, but of function, or a happy medium. An example being speed boots! Speed boots will not necessarily hinder your performance or ability in say, a raid or quest, but just make travel easier.

Although this may not seem 'fair' to some, I am also of the opinion that life isn't always fair. After all, I should not be compensated for having to work a steady 9~5, nor should retired or unemployed players be reprimanded for being able to play so much. Some players just are fortunate enough to have the time to put into the game, and choose to, while others do not. I know that if I had the time to input, like some do, I'd have hit all 50s, which is in itself a awesome achievement. But I don't, and I don't think it fair to impose some compensation or 'justice' from SE because of this.

What I do not agree with is the OP's means of soliciting feedback. As Majidah so eloquently put it:

    - With 8yrs of playing FFXI with 2 accounts.
    - Supporting this game since Beta and now on my 3rd character.

At the request of the OP: NO
IMO: Time means nothing. Same with a launch CE as we got an ingame item out of it.

I played FFXI since PS2 release up till dec I left and came to FFXIV. Now never once in the many years I played FFXI did I ever feel entitled to anything extra. In fact only thing we are entitled to is playing the game and nothing more. You already got something for playing since release and that was playing for free till a few months ago keep in mind SE never had to do that. Not to mention the fact we get this amazing storyline, mount, armor/weapons, and the piece of mind knowing you were there since day one you really don't need anything else.

Be happy with what you have. I started playing in Dec after leaving FFXI and I love the game and if I played as long as a lot of you I would be happy with that.

Does it matter if they put that in since they didnt add up our faction leves or craft that we have completed from before Achievement. Like seriouly you would think they add in those before even adding in the amount time you play beside the point that everyone just afk in time for time anyway.
