Shouldn't the SMN damage be entirely pet base ?

When a SMN summon a pet, the entirety of the damage should be generated by the pet. If you look back at previous FF installment, when a SMN summon a primal, all the damage from that point on is entirely pet base.

At this moment, I considered most of my pet like an insignificant DOT. That's it. What is the point of being a SMN if what you summon are not powerful egi. To the point that my SMN is also equal in dmg to my chocobo companion (i am exaggerating of course). So much for being a warrior of light.

I want to see back the support, dps or tank pet. Let us be a real pet class like SMN should have always been. Physics would apply to only healing pet. All our abilities should be towards our pet. This is a SMN jobs. The current rotation (level 59) is basicaly dot, syphon, fester and ruin until I get syphon back, repeat. It is so freaking boring.

At 59 your missing both bahamut and Phoenix which are you two most powerful pets.

Pre max level summoner has never been fun.

I don't think it should be entirely pet based, but at least it shouldn't be as insignificant as it is right now.

One way I would suggest to change it would be to make SMN entirely trance based.
When you trance to a lesser primal, you get an aether, when you use a finisher, you get a charge for a greater primal.

    >Trance to Ifrit (single target dot dps trance, Ifrit appears like a Stand from JoJo)
    >Ruin becomes a fire spell
    >Bio and Miasma becomes fire dots
    >Fester becomes a fire spell that consume dots
    >Merge bane and painflare
    >Finisher summons Ifrit to cast Hellfire like FFX

Also other summons could be implemented in this framework as well.

    >Trance to Garuda (Aoe burst damage)
    >Trance to Ramuh/Shiva (single target burst damage)
    >Trance to Titan (Support trance?)

After spending two finishers you could gain a charge to summon Bahamut or Phoenix.
