"Sir Surname" in quest "Resolve Regained"

In the quest "Resolve Regained", during the objective, "Speak with Tolas" near the overturned wagon, the Crystarium Guardsman says,

In English-speaking traditions that style people "Sir", it correctly precedes one's forename or full name, but not one's surname. For example, the actor Patrick Stewart is Sir Patrick or Sir Patrick Stewart, not Sir Stewart.

The choice to use Sir Surname is even more baffling considering the NPC is addressed, presumably, by his forename, Sir Tolas. Why is he Sir Forename but I'm Sir Surname?

This localization error also appears in at least one other quest, An Ode to Unity:

The speaker being a character from Ishgard should definitely understand that Sir Surname is incorrect. When styled Sir, I expect to be addressed as Sir Cyrillo, not Sir Rongway.

Also in "In the Company of Heroes":

Well, taking the obvious reason for this decision is that this is simply not Earth and thus their way of titles may have different traditions.

My speculation is that your surname is your family name and thus in many cultures your family name is actually more important than your own name (for instance, the traditional formal way of writing Japanese names is surname/family name is first and your given name second, but due to Western influences the modern way is to write the given name first and surname second), so this might be a possibility.

This also explains why Sunseeker miqo'te like Y'shtola are addressed by their first name, due to the percularities of their naming traditions, with women's surnames being merely the first name of the nuhn who sired her, and men generally just having a title denoting their breeding 'permissions', or more often, the lack of, and thus neither really have a true 'family' name, other than their tribal letter.

And lets face it, identifying Y'shtola as "Lady Y" would just be silly...

And it's fine if they want to go with "well this isn't Earth", but it's still a bad localization choice, especially when NPCs are pretty much always addressed as Sir Forename. Confirmation bias surely but I can't remember a single time an NPC has been referred to as Sir/Ser Surname. There are Sir/Ser Forenames aplenty when NPC names are concerned but I always seem to be Sir Surname.

I do agree. Sir/Ser Rongway is just the wrong way to address you.

I never noticed that this even happened due to playing a female character and the female version of Sir/Ser are used with both forename and surname.
