Idea : Invite to locked server codes

They could make those codes, let a few hundred more people in and then have to lock it again because people just tend to have connections to one another. What next, collect 10 signatures from witnesses and send selfies to prove you are friends irl? There are no codes to make bigger servers so they have to end the incoming flow of players. You can at least use World Visit now.

All of Aether is congested. I remember when Balmung was congested almost all of stormblood. It was only open for a week. I'm really worried Gilgamesh is going to be like that now. And then I can never get any friends in cause they can't truly play with me

When trying to create a character on a congested world, make sure you are doing that during the least busiest time as the lock is determined by the amount of people logged in at that time. Being on Balmung I'm reserved to know that more than likely, my friends/family won't be able to join my FC, however, we did get our niece on Diabolos at around 2am, so she can server hop or we can to play and it works just fine. Give it some time for the x-pack new-ness to die down then try again early in the AM (unless our least busiest time is other than that.)

Congested is fully locked, and is only changed during maintenance. It's not the same as the temp locks during high traffic times.

but anyway, no, i think the servers that are completely locked are actually completely full. we have log-in queues everyday at basically all hours.

And then he has to deal with all the restrictions of not being on his home server, can’t join my FC and has to buy a transfer later. That’s not a good enough solution honestly. I’m all for stopping people joining the server if they have no ties to it, but that’s not the case here. Even months ago when we were going to play together (I believe in March) he couldn’t create a character here either. We just ended up not playing.

To be completely fair, Leviathan was never a congested world until right before ShB's launch. And you can't really fault the OP if they've been on the server for years - it's not like they could have forseen it becoming congested. I never thought Cactuar would become congested when I started 3.5 years ago, but now it is.

If they've been on the server for years, then they'd know that it's right after expansion launch times that you get congestion problems. What further impacts this is that Leviathan has always been in the top three for most populated servers along with Greg and Balmung, so in all honesty, it's more of a surprise that it didn't get locked down sooner.

As for Cactuar, that is slightly more surprising, but not by much given the usual population increase that comes with expansion launches.
