Idea : Invite to locked server codes

My boyfriend recently decided to get the new expansion to play with me. The problem is, I’m on a locked server and he can’t make a new character or transfer his old one to Leviathan. I’m not going to transfer off because I love my FC. Either unlock the worlds (which I don’t see happening right now) or give us codes we can get friends around the lock. I hate that he spent money on his sub and the expansion and now essentially can’t play.

So long as he's on the same datacentre he should be able to use the aetheryte in Limsa, Gridania or Ul'dah to come across to your server.

Should work well enough short-term, and then could transfer more permanently once things calm down.

You know servers are locked because they are full, right?

Unless all the servers on the DC are locked he can still play with you. Make a crosslink to chat with him. Sure it's a bit of a pain living on a server not your own cause you can't check mail or do retainer business or join a FC if not on your home server but the worlds will open up soon enough. There are a lot of short times who join to play the xpac and story then leave.

Just give it some time.

No he can't join a FC but he can still join a crosslink to which you can invite lots of people from your FC to join if you want to have a group of friends to talk too. I've just created one (well a friend has) on Siren for my alt on Gilga and we've invited a lot of good friends to it from Siren and on other servers. It's fine although not optimal although in the case of this alt she belongs to a FC on Gilga (one belonging to another of my alts) and I like it there.

Again the worlds should open up after the expansion has been underway awhile. I doubt they'll allow transfer with codes or paid transfers for that matter until the populations stabilize and reduce in size.

Your server is locked because it's full, you can either leave or he can use world visit.

I mean, even if the very next post is Yoshi-P himself saying this is a great idea it still wouldn't make a difference, chances are your server would open up before they got it implemented.

To be completely fair, Leviathan was never a congested world until right before ShB's launch. And you can't really fault the OP if they've been on the server for years - it's not like they could have forseen it becoming congested. I never thought Cactuar would become congested when I started 3.5 years ago, but now it is.

If they've been on the server for years, then they'd know that it's right after expansion launch times that you get congestion problems. What further impacts this is that Leviathan has always been in the top three for most populated servers along with Greg and Balmung, so in all honesty, it's more of a surprise that it didn't get locked down sooner.

As for Cactuar, that is slightly more surprising, but not by much given the usual population increase that comes with expansion launches.
