By level 71, I knew this was the best expansion yet.

By level 73, I found sorrow even in the things that were beautiful.

By level 75, I questioned morality.

By level 77, I was questioning purpose.

By level 79, I dared see suffering even from my enemies.

By level 80, I was changed by pain I can't even fathom.


Holy crap this expansion. Everything about this was flawless.

I hated Stormblood, I thought it was the beginning of the end of Final Fantasy XIV. There was maybe one or two memorable characters, but nothing like this.

Naoki Yoshida, I tip my hat to you. I needed days just to step away from the game and take a walk.

The Twinning dungeon and all of the revelations that come with it are amazing. Not to mention the rocking soundtrack that is literally a blast from the past.

People on other forums dedicated to Final Fantasy games have asked me how I feel about Shadowbringers and my response is that Shadowbringers is Final Fantasy as it is meant to be experienced as as whole. And also that it has the best story of any Final Fantasy game in the last decade. Maybe longer.

I am definetly looking forwards to where the story goes from here and can't wait to see what the dev team has in store for us.

I was only halfway through the MSQ and already eager to play through it again on my alt. That only increased by the time I reached the finale. I cannot give props enough to the developers for Shadowbringers. Stormblood was overall unsatisfactory for me in terms of story, and this more than made up for it (while also making it glaringly obvious how lacking SB was in my eyes).

What an emotional rollercoaster for me. By far the best .0 series. I really hope SE can keep this momentum into the split story patches and find some good closures for each story patch.
In the past i was like.. what its over? Meeeh... waiting again.

Some F-Quests are actually really fun because they had some lore in it.

I never was more in joy, tears, anxiety, rage at certain npc characters (a certain general), disgusted.
Thank you Square Enix. Can only repeat myself. You created a masterpiece.

After the massive reveals i am super curious how this is gonna go.
Hopefully onto many more years

My big highlight of the patch if i had to choose one, are the multiple choice answers.
The immersion is really big in those.

It's my favourite expansion so far. I just hope the quality remains consistent moving forward.

I'm very eager for the New Game+ system to be added though I hope it can be done multiple times.

I totally agree with you. Especially the end. You just end up so conflicted, because you vowed such hatred to the Asciens and suddenly, you feel nothing but sadness for them. I was so pleasantly surprised by this expac, really the best for me. Colorful yet dark, powerful but funny (Urianger giving the comment on his beard cracked me up) it's like a perfect mix of the feelings HW and SB went for. Dark, yet colorful.

Much love to the devs for this one. It is great ♥

The main theme of shadowbringers became way more powerful too after finishing the story because suddenly you really understood the meaning of this song.

Finally learning about the motivations and goals of our main adversaries was nice indeed, and (in my opinion) much better than the very politically-driven stories of A Realm Reborn and Stormblood, as well as Heavensward's pretty trite cycle of revenge story.

Things got incredibly heavy toward the end. God damn.

This expansion gave me basically everything I wanted storywise out of the past six years of FFXIV, including a number of things I was starting to convince myself I shouldn't expect. For once I even felt like the non-multiple-choice scripted reactions were a pretty good reflection of how I felt.

(That we're finally allowed to be like, "don't you even f*kupo*ing dare" to one of our companions' elaborate sacrifice gambits felt especially nice in a post-XV series. Please keep it up, FFXIV, and please stay on whatever meds made that happen.)

Easily the best I've felt about an FF-game start-to-finish since FFXII.
