Triple Triad NPCs

So I just went through and re-beat every NPC that doesn't have a unique card as well as ones I know I'd played but didn't have all the cards from (even the one guy in Idyllshire and Lewena) because I'm apparently at 91 NPC's defeated. The tracker I'm using says there are 93 NPCs in the game and there is literally only one NPC I don't have access to so I REALLY don't understand how I have only 91 NPCs defeated.

Is there an NPC that is on trackers but the game doesn't actually count?

For whatever reason, Lewena doesn't count toward the achievements.

Supposedly Lewena doesn't count towards the achievement either, judging from my own searches trying to figure out why the checklist on arrtripletriad.com didn't quite match up with my achievement progress.

She does not count towards the achievement for winning against different NPCs. The same was true for Tataru who was only available in during the end of ARR and the start of HW.

Oh, and as for why, I'm guessing it's because her cards and what her rule originally was. She used to have the rule "Random." Lemme tell you how the more cards you had the harder she used to be. My husband actually laughed at me way back when because I looked at the two NPCs I didn't have beaten at the time and decided to level Ixal and thus a crafter JUST so I didn't have to attempt to keep facing her.

Is there a guide somewhere perhaps suggesting the easier NPCs to beat first to improve your deck?

I'm a brand new player but I remember Triple Triad from FF IX. I went to play in game, earned a few 3 star cards, and then it tells me I can't put them in my deck because I have too many rare cards (apparently more than 1 is too many).

I don't recall some of these mechanics like Plus (though I haven't played FF IX since it came out ages ago) and some of these NPCs have tough decks to beat. I presume you need to progress from easier opponents to tougher opponents, but I don't where to start or what that progression should look like.

Start with the NPC's in the Gold Saucer TT area, and then the ones in the ARR areas. You'll slowly improve your deck, and get practice at most of the rule sets. Drop rates for the lower star cards are pretty good. And the 'recommended cards' button actually tends to build a good hand from you deck also.
