My WoL has the voice of Ryan Reynolds so unless they can get him to do it I'll stick to using my imagination, thanks.

Would love to have that, but most likely will never happen.![]()
From the little I played of SWTOR, my character ended up sounding like a robot. I prefer the implication that my character is speaking rather than actually hearing it.I would like it if FFXIV adopted a SWTOR style with full voice acting and branching decisions. I generally don't like silent protagonists. Even though the story is about the WoL, it's so easy to actually forget about the WoL's story because he/she never makes so much as a peep. All the stoic nodding can really kill a cut scene since it's the same exact emote being used 10,000 times.
Yoshi-P already said no to this because it's up to the player to think what their WOL sounds like.

Ill toss my hat in the No department.
There is To many Voice actors they would have to hire between all the races and Genders and different languages.
I am highly against this.
I want my character to sound how I imagine it. SE putting a voice to it would probably bother me alot.
Maby if there is an option to mute it, but the amount of work and different voice actors required for each of the voices you can choose from. I would rather they focus on more voiced cutscenes in the main/side stories then voicing for your character in my honest opinion.

it would be an amazing surprise for everyone who has invest for so long playing the game from ARR era.
after so long indulging in the story and dwelling in FF14 world, in this one grand final epic last fight against this final boss in whatever future expansion. our char utter 1 short sentence using either default male/female, before dealing the final blow.
that would be epic as hell
If this was asked back in HW it'd be a maybe, but this far in its a no, most players if they do have a voice for their WoL whether its a certain actor, their own voice, or something they just think sounds good would most likely be very disappointed at whatever voices were used, more so since it would almost certainly be one voice per gender/race. Maybe whenever the next FF MMO happen they could do so from the start.
For talking it's too late, but after playing GW2, I really think this is the worst aspect of this game.
As Lalafell, there are basically three major types of voices: A very calm, human-like voice (like Pipin), the rough one (like Papalymo) and the squeeky, high-pitched one that is just annoying.
Thanks to Papalymo, I can imagine how my Lalafell sounds like in combination with certain emotes, but else, it massively lacks any sort of immersion to me. And no, it not a bad thing to have your character go "hah!" or "hupp" when jumping occassionally. Right now I have exactly 4 SFX in battle: "Ah!", "Ouh", "Huuaah" and "Hua". And the pain sounds are playing so rarely that falling damage triggers it more often than the actual fight.
It is also not too expensive (for such a pricey game FFXIV is) to record more lines at least for emotions (sic; not emotes only). But it feels like they recorded some in 2011 and that's it, never again. With optional sliders in the menu or frequency to set up how often we could hear ourselves, I'd like to have more lines going on, and since GW2 (I pick this game for my personal experiernce and reference), nobody can tell me it's "impossible" when they have 2 genders a 5 species with full voice acting in 3 languages going on, to give us more dynamic voiceFX for the battle.
And "imaging hearing our WoL talking" is funny when you have to select a VOICE in the character creation just to be a mute. So YoshiP is just talking bullcrap in that matter (again. Like server issues, engine issues, PlayStation issues - it's just the money). I can barely even imagine how my character could sound like if I would not have those maybe 13 seconds of emotes added up.
Sincerely,

They should do this.
And for those of you who don't want it, its fine, you can turn it off in options.
There everyone is on board now.
