    After lvl all 3 healer to 80 and play them in the dungeons/ex trial I can say astro atm is active to play so you cast/draw, cast/redraw, cast/enhance and then cast and play. But what I had in like in 2 from 10 runs whas not getting 3 seals with sleeve draw and redraw and then you are forced to use the 4 % dmg instead of the 6 and that 2 times in a fight, were I couldn’t draw a blooper or balance for the solar seal so you are forced to take 4 % when people use there cds on cd

    And yeah Astro is hectic and active to play and not that strong in comparison. And the Card system if you have all seals is always draw and make a king or queen out of it. There is no other better thing to do

    the question still remains though is the dps buffs from the cards > the dps gained from killing faster? the answer should always be a yes but SE has made weird design choices in the past ho knows what the future holds

    No, but people will still want Ast because they only care about their own DPS.

    Well, good news, FTail: that's what DNC is for. AST would not be ideal for that position because of the potential downtime between applied buffs, as well as the insignificance of their output.

    Lately, I've been thinking that it's time for Squeen to accept that they've created jobs which don't fit into their roles as precisely as they want, for the sake of their contrived balance, and just create a Support job role for those classes. The support job role would be able to provide the party with a variety of advantages while posing potentially as off-DPS and/or off-healing, but wouldn't necessarily be the strongest. I'd imagine that jobs such as BRD (though, not in the current not-so-bard-like state that it's in now), DNC, and AST would fit into the role, and each jobs skills/spells/abilities and potencies would need to be revisited in order to make that work. To that end, I'd think that 4-man parties would be formed with 1 each of Tank, Healer, Support, and DPS, while the 8 mans would ideally be comprised of 2 tanks, 1 healer, 1 support, 4 DPS.

    Otherwise, regarding this topic directly: it sort of feels like they wanted to use AST as an experiment. They've previously decided that they wanted the healers to spend more time focused on healing, and, for the most part, they've achieved that on AST, but now they get to gauge if this is an effective strategy for the other healers, or if their experiment was a failure. Regarding cards, they probably thought about it from a DPS perspective (more damage up = better, right?), and figured that was enough.

    I have been wanting support jobs in this game since ff14 1.0. I was so disappointed when bard was a ranger and not like the bard in FF11.

    But you're not wrong SE boxed themselves in the moment they added AST and after that they didn't really know what to do now. And seeing dancer now in shb and the change to astro they seem even more confused.

    Reading all this makes me miss old Ast again, I had so much fun using mp card when I had to revive too many times and using skills to extend buffs. I remember how I gave one member 1 minute dmg buff and party one lasted 30 seconds without using time buff. And now we have cards which all do shit dmg buff for what the original used to be. Getting all different 3 seals and only getting 6% dmg buff which only lasts 15 seconds to everyone and 3 minutes cooldown...when old cards used to give 10% which lasted 30 seconds. Were at the bottom of the chart when it comes to healing/dmg that they even had to nerf all our buffs. I feel like drg dmg buffs are way better than what ast is atm, what old ast used to be is now for dancer...I lvled my ast while doing msq for my first ever class to 80 cause I could not give up on my favourite class...I can still manage keeping pt alive but when it comes to other healers were like dust next to them. For new skills I do enjoy using horoscope and neutral sect but damn having to spam all healing kits and still it not being enough to just dps or focus on your cards without seeing your tank dropping hp so fast. I haven't even lvled up my other healers to 80 yet but when I do I will probably feel even more dissappointed in Ast nerfs.

    While I have been enjoying leveling AST in Shadowbringers, and contrary to many, I like the changes to the cards, I will agree that some of AST's skills seem under tuned.

    For a two minute cooldown, Celestial Opposition feels really weak. I feel like it should have at the very least a 200 potency cure and the HoT portion should also be 200 potency (making it at least equivalent to an aoe Aspected Benefic). After leveling to 76 as AST so far, I hardly feel like there's any impact from hitting Celestial Opposition for such a long cooldown.

    Another under tuned ability is Collective Unconscious. This ability's potency needs to be at least as high as Asylum's. Heck they even share a cooldown if you change jobs! But its half the potency AND its duration is shorter. Collective Unconscious should be about on par with Asylum imo.

    And finally, I feel like Celestial Intersection could benefit from a slight potency buff as well. Just a bit like say from 150 to 200. Its a good skill, I just wish it was a bit stronger.

    You absolutely nailed it OP.

    I just feel so damn weak when running dungeons. Like I have to work my a** off to keep the tank alive on big pulls, something i never see the other healers struggle with.

    Even the damage is extremely low too, I'm really disappointed with the numbers and the effort I have to put in just to keep up.

    Also i wish i could shuffle through cards while casting stuff, or something. It just doesn't feel good as it is. During intense healing moments in EX Trials I almost don't have time to shuffle through cards.

    Hopeful for a fix!
