If a pet is summoned then the pet hot bar is visible which seems like plenty of indication. If they end up adding it back to the party list that’s fine too, but it doesn’t really seem like it’s needed given how the pets function now.

The thing is some players don't use the pet hotbar and opt to place the pet command actions on specific bars of their choosing, so some will still have no indication of whether the pet is summoned or not. I mean we don't need it in the party list again, seems tidier without the pet there, but some kind of UI element would go a long way.

The pet hot bar is a pain to use with controller. I turned that off immediately and put those commands on my regular chotbar. I macroed steady/sic and place/heal together to create toggles. Taking the pet out of the party list has been frustrating. I now have no way of seeing which status my pet is set to if I set them to guard or steady or sic. Not without turning on targeting in battle -- which for controller is a massive pain b/c now I am faced with targeting other's pets/minions.

A little off-topic, but doesn't treating sic and steady as a toggle complicate targeting? Putting your pet into an aggressive mode is only one part of what Sic does. It's also used to tell your pet which enemy to focus its attacks on, and you may want to use it for that purpose even when it's already in its aggressive mode.
