Jobs tend to make mince meat out of moogles.

One thing that helped us during Ifrit was using Battle Voice about 10 or so seconds before Hellfire went off. This requires someone to use a timer for when spikes pop out. When the timer goes down, people gather, bard uses Battle Voice, HP goes up, and survivability increases.

just use the Ifrit fight timer that way no one needs to use an outside the game timer
