    Unable to download patch files [30413] [25008] [20495] [20495]

Currently reinstalling the FFXIV client in an attempt to fix dx11 crashes on my end, but have been hampered since yesterday by launcher errors and trying to look for solutions.

I have tried all the recommended fixes such as changing DNS, using VPNs, changing settings on Internet Explorer, as well as other recommended solutions I've come across. So far, they have not been succesful, since in most cases they could only partially download a patch file before failing. When the download fails, the incomplete file is deleted and has to start back from zero.

Partial solution that has worked for me so far:
    • Run FFXIV Launcher.
    • Let it download until you get the Launcher Error message.
    • Delete the .patch.info file in your downloads\ffxivpatch\xxxxxxxx\patch folder.
    • Run FFXIV Launcher not as Administrator.
    • The file will download anew, hopefully without an error, and then will be patched. If it does show an error, delete the .patch.info file and try again.
    • After patching one file, the next file will begin downloading and eventually get another Launcher Error.
    • Repeat the part with deleting the .patch.info file and let it download again.

My guess is that there's something that goes wrong with how the .info and .patch file interacts and causes it to show an error when an inconsistency shows up between the two.

Though honestly, having an integrity and repair feature built in to the launcher would have likely alleviated my issues, including the need to reinstall due to dx11 errors. Ideally, a player should not also need to babysit their game download at all, so I'm still hoping we get a much better launcher system sometime down the line.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in our response to your concern. Are you using wifi or are you connected directly to the router?

Hello, my friend has been having the same issue, do you know the full pathway to find the patch files to delete them? Also, by partial solution, where you able to download the entire game successfully? Thanks in advance, support has not been very helpful.

I use wifi to download and play.

I've already finished downloading the client two days ago. Downloading took me intermittently around two days due to being required to babysit the download for errors. The main issue stems from the files getting deleted when the error happens, instead of the partial file being saved such as when you cancel the download or the internet cuts out.

    Hello.
I only counted is as a partial solution because I still needed to keep an eye on the download and restart it whenever the error pops up. This made redownloading the client take so more much time and effort, instead of being able to leave it downloading on its own.
If your friend is on Windows, the partially-downloaded patch files should be found in Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\downloads\ffxivpatch\
Good luck to them, and I hope Square Enix eventually fixes this issue sometime down the line.
