So, I'm at a loss on how to seriously grind Grand Company seals. All the YouTube videos and Reddit threads I've Googled seem to be sorely outdated. Please post suggestions here for both beginners and more advanced rank players.
Thank you!

FATEs and trading in old pink, green and blue icon equipment are how I mainly get GC seals. GC Leves are also a viable alternative. Once you unlock the GC Squadron and can do Squadron Missions they also reward GC seals (while simultaneously costing some to execute before hand). But FATEs and dungeon/tome gear trade-ins are my main sources of GC seals (lately I've been capping out seals easily despite using them to buy up tons of venture tokens).
It is a pain to unlock the trade ins - However, as soon as you can trade in gear for GCs the - in my opinion - fastest way is actually to run dungeons and Need/Greed on all the gear possible. Then trade it for GC seals at your local, trusty Lieutnent. You can also trade your tomestones (the old ones) for cheap gear like rings and trade them back for GC items. Also if you unlock your gatherer and crafters, you can use the turn ins not only to get GC seals but also passive level them. Depending on your server the trade ins are sometimes pretty cheap on the MB.
However, if you haven't unlocked the trade ins yet - Then this really is grindy. Use Fates and your GC Seals challenge lock and work your way through the ranks as fast as possible to get high enough for... GC turn ins!
I find that (once you have unlocked Expert Deliveries), if you have retainers capable of doing quick ventures at 50 or above, you often get green and blue items that you can quickly trade in for seals.
I use them to buy coins for more quick ventures, AND I still have plenty of seals left over for other things.
Admittedly, it's not the most efficient way of farming seals, but it does leave you free to do other things whilst they're out gathering.
The way i do it is... everytime i run a dungeon i greed ALL OF THE GEAR and then exchange for seals.
Most of the outdated stuff is probably still viable since I don't think how you grind for seals has changed.... at all.
Solo run some Heavensward dungeons on any class over level 70. It's fast, and you get all the loot. Or trust run the Shadowbringer dungeons, a little slower, but still, all the loot is yours and shadowbringer loot is 1500 seals each. I've been drowning in seals since I started trust running. If you haven't reached the Grand Company level where you can turn in dungeon gear, then do Fates, Grand Company leves, crafting/gathering turn ins and check your roulettes to find out if any are offering seals as a reward.
Check undersized party option and solo queue for the highest level dungeon you can solo easily, you get all the gear drops and it takes less than 10 mins usually. At 70, I used to do Sohm Al a lot for this as it was the fastest/best rate of return or whatever. Not sure what my new farm dungeon will be for 80 yet.
Edit: I see someone else was saying the same thing right before me as I was typing this. LOL
Opt for turning in gear to your GC. I've acquired over 5k glamour prisms in the past week simply by running dungeons and greeding on anything I can't need on (I'm a tank, so no competition for gear). They yield about 1600 seals per item and most people just pass on loot altogether. It's crazy how many times I've had to head to Ul'dah because my inventory started to get the overflow from my armory.
Get max level, then solo run a bunch of the level 50-60 dungeons
Please show support for chocobo boots to be added -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/323512-Suggestion-for-an-item-to-be-added-to-gold-saucer-Chocobo-Boots
Unhappy with how they implemented Mahjong? -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/381358-Mahjong-is-the-most-depressing-mini-game-you-ve-added-to-XIV
Just do post-ARR dungeons and lot all the gear. ARR dungeon gear value is a bit too low.
