Help/Advice For Trust Dungeon(s)

Hello all.

For all the time I have put in to FFXIV I am still very much learning the ropes. I myself have only levelled the one Job, that being BLM.

... and I'm not very good...

I have gotten to Amaurot, the level 80 dungeon and because of the problems I have on my end I prefer to use the Trust system. Done all of the new dungeons with it so far and despite maybe taking 10 minutes longer to complete than with a team of peeps, I have enjoyed it. However...I am now stuck. The Second Doom boss is proving a stupidly simple wall I cannot get past. I understand that it is a straight up DPS-Check excuse for a "boss", but I barely get it to just under 10% health before it wipes and I have to start over. I have failed this Dungeon twice now. That's a lot of time and a lot of attempts. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong? I know you are supposed to be able to do any of these with the Trust system which is upsetting me all the more...

I have all the 78 HQ High Mythril Caster gear at iLevel 415.

The question is, as never using Trusts myself what is the current situation at that point where you wipe?
What setup are you using overall for these runs? are the trusts leveled sufficiently as without spoiling to much once thats a big thing later on, do the trusts die during the encounter? are the adds still up during the burn phase of the boss and do you have access to a limit break? - whats the situation rotation wise like? the 2nd boss can be quite tedious from a tanking perspective picking everything up as it runs in and even with groups of pugs it can get quite close to wiping. Perhaps it's more that you require assistance with rotation checks, if ya want some help you can hit me up in-game for a chat. More than happy to help people through content when there struggling
I would also add in that by then you should have the 430 gear supplied through the story mode. Have you been keeping up to date with the Role Quests? that will supply you with more than enough gear to clear the content at 80.

I've actually had a good run with the Trust system, bar Amaurot. It is a little bit slower with the AIs, but in terms of keeping healed and avoiding AoEs they are great.
The bit that was getting me was after all the Adds and the Boss starts charging up for that damn wipe move. Just couldn't get enough damage dealt. The bad thing about the AIs is that their DPS is woeful.
I did end up getting past it though. I changed up the party members and took Thancred, Mini-Filly and Alphinaud instead of Y'shtola and Urianger. Y'shtola is a heavy hitter, but she is slow and I found that she used up all her cooldowns on the Adds so that when the DPS was needed, she was only going as base attack. Alisae also uses LB frequently. Not used her much due to that.
But yeah, after switching I managed to get past it.

My rotations are naff. Whenever I watch those videos I get so annoyed because I can't keep that up. I get too flustered by boss mechanics and AoEs and end up losing my timing, usually losing my Umbral charge entirely which sinks my DPS output. I'd like to be able to do Extreme Trials to get that better gear, but I'm just not good enough.

Great to hear that you cleared it Tsidas!

Indeed looking over the Trusts themselves it does seem be be a clear distinction in regards to who to take I would have suggested, Thancred - MiniFilly - Urianger so you'd get the maximum DPS benefit overall.
I wouldn't sell yourself too short though, everyone gets flustered with the changes that recently hit with expansion. Take some time to relax and really take it slow, wouldn't want to ruin the experience for you overall. Maybe if BLM isn't working out perhaps it's time to flex to a possible new class that suits you better? I'm not sure but as before if you want some help just give me a poke in-game and I'm sure with a little practice you'll be more than prepared for Extreme Trials.
