Limiting posts also prevents discussion and constructive feedback. Limiting posts will not stop spamming of inconsequential nonsense, as evidenced by the countless threads and posts of inconsequential nonsense present across the boards here. And I was under the impression that FFXIV's community was better than the others'. If it is, then the concern about the forums being spammed with inconsequential nonsense isn't necessary.

I'm genuinely surprised that anyone would defend such an archaic way of doing things.

For instance, I can't even reply immediately on my own thread because of this limitation. I'm lucky if I get to make ten posts in a day. That doesn't seem at all unnecessarily restrictive to you?

I decided I would also see if there were other threads about this. Sure enough, there are. Some dating back to 2013. I also saw the post explaining the limits. Which hasn't been updated since the level cap was 50. I notice it says 20 post limit per day. Not even close. As I said, I' lucky if I get in ten. I got in about six today before I got the message "New forum post cannot be made due to either you have reached to your daily limit or your main character's level is not high enough." I was shocked I even got to create this thread on first try. But I can't reply to it because of the post limit. I suppose I could edit my original post with my reply, but that would look silly. It would get around the asinine restriction, though. But I don't want to do that.

The post explaining the limitations also states 15 minutes between posts. I haven't had to wait between posts, and more than 15 minutes have passed since my last (and sixth for the day) post today. So even that post explaining the limitations isn't right anymore. And this reply keeps getting longer the longer it takes before I'm able to post it, as I keep finding new things to add to it.

I took a look at my post history and I notice that...
    - it doesn't even have all of my posts (I have over 200, post history only shows I have 180...)
    - Numerous posts are showing that they were posted on a day they were not posted on (some are several days after they were posted). This makes it appear I had 20 posts in a single day, even though I know the day I posted some of them and it's not the day showing in the post history page.
    - It's not even showing any posts from yesterday or today.

There's no place to see how many posts you have left remaining for the day. Everything about this limitation is just unnecessary and archaic.

It has now been over 45 minutes since my last post today.

I don't know what happened with the otter posts. But from what little I saw, I can't see how it any worse than the "Show your [insert character race]" threads or the thread about marriage partners or the ffxiv memes thread... should I keep listing threads that are "inconsequential nonsense"? And to be clear, I have no problem with those threads. But if the intent of limiting posts is to limit the "inconsequential nonsense", then threads like that should be removed. I don't want a sterile, bland, boring forum. If that means having otter posts, I'm all for having otter posts. But you can't really call a forum "general discussion" when you limit people's ability to discuss.
And need I mentioned the countless "yes /10char" posts all over the place and other short replies that contribute nothing to the discussions?

And no, they have not upgraded the limit.
