I'm in total agreement. BLM has answers to just about every situation both ST and AOE as well as down/uptime. I started doing Titania-Ex with FC and was pleasantly surprised at how much uptime I had and was easily able to get off all my cast quickly with out having too move and not have my sharp cast comeback. Xenoglossy is good for moving. I've gotten great damage while having to move and firing off that spell. I tried SMN and was disappointed. There is too much happening and seems like a collision happening within the job. SMN needs help imo.

Ymbral soul is for use while you have umbral ice. It gives you umbral hearts and umbral ice stacks. You can then quickly go into T3/F3/F4 etc with all the trimmings easier and quicker. It's quite exhilarating.

You can also use it on your downtime in fights when enemies go immune. It let's you preserve polyglot stacks too. It's basically the BLM answer to SMN aetherflow stack preservation and also similar to how MNK can easily get into it's different fist stances. Please correct me if I am wrong someone. Yes lol! You can simply cast the opposite spell for free. The MP cost always line up perfectly usually, for some unknown reason lol. So you will always have enough to fire off all you spells without hindrance and reach your peak quickly in terms of spell usage.

Except SMN currently can't gain Aetherflow stacks while in downtime.
