Also is there not a tracker now implemented in game? I though i had read there was.
Otherwise up until now i always relied on ffxivclock

Sort of... by "tracker" what they really meant was the node times show up in your gathering log. So if you go and look up (for instance) white oak branches, you'll see the Eorzean spawn times listed with the item.

It's less useful than I'd like. Using alarms or third party websites is still a better option.
