    The Warrior of Kindness (Spoiler)

I’m a bit disappointed that there was no Warrior of Darkness. I get the that we’re fighting light which is opposite of dark yet still evil. It makes no sense that the light is evil (unless in Final Fantasy). So if light is evil and dark is evil what is good? I think the light should’ve been good and too much of it would of... nvm.

SE pulled a gotcha with their video previews like they always do. Making us think we were going to be going bad for this expansion. I really was hoping we were going to become evil. Oh well maybe in an alternate universe or something.

Playing through the expansion I didn’t see anything with us being the Warrior of Darkness. It was more like the Warrior of Kindness. Good deeds fallowed everywhere I went and I was really disappointed. What was the point of being dark if all we did was fight darkness in the form of evil light.

I was hoping we get corrupted with the light and become evil, but again it was all a disappointment and same O same O. The main characters even dying and coming back to life was predictable. They should’ve died by my hand after I became corrupted by the light. That would of been more exciting to watch.

The story/music/voice overs/fast combat were all a great addition to the game. 10/10. Wish we were evil in this game.

    uuuh what.

Light is not evil, nor is Darkness. Too much of either is bad but not necessairly "evil". They have stated before Shadowbringers (in Heavensward actually) that neither are evil but too much of either is very dangerous and will corrupt life.

I don't feel it's nice to blame SE for your your prejudices regarding Light and Darkness and how one of them "has" to be evil. I wish people would inherently stop giving moral concepts to Light and Darkness. Guess what. They aren't people so morality shouldn't apply to it. They are technically energy.

You don't go around saying electricity is evil now do you? It can be dangerous yes but it doesn't get out of its way to kill your family for the giggles now, does it?

I think this only happens because unti now the Ascians which are the ones that are mostly using darkness are evil in our view, while we who mostly go with Hydaelyn and thus the Light are doing good things. Maybe they should have mixed that up before to show that Light and Darkness have nothing to do with good and bad. But even in this expansion we still use light to do good and its even our blessing that saves the world. Unlike the trailer that makes it seem like we are truly using darkness to fight the Light, we dont do that ingame. So I can see how people are disappointed by that. I never believed that we would turn evil at all and kinda was shaking my head at those that wanted to switch side or something.

While we believed that to save ours we had to save theirs
They did not come to our world to kill our world but to start the calamity which then would have been enough to rejoin their shard with the source. This would have lead to a huge amount of death and the destruction and complete death of the shard, but at that time they believed (thanks to the Ascians) that this was the only way. They of course still made the mistake (unknowingly) that nearly destroyed their world and wanted to save at least some souls by causing huge destruction but saw their mistakes, while certain other enemies simply dont care at all.

Agree with this completely. If you really need a formula for it, extremes are where you get evil. Pretty much every primal we've dealt with showed that, maaaaaaybe excepting the weird situation with Shiva because having the Echo Ysayle couldn't temper herself.

Even Sophia became an extreme in the name of balance and committed the evil of murdering an entire family just so that things would be perfectly stable in death.

Besides a healthy helping of ^^^^, WoL flashes back hard to Ishgard after Dohn Mheg and has been ending every Shadowbringers dungeon or trial by simply closing their eyes wearily. I'm fairly positive there are more examples too but those just stood out offhand.

Take for instance the Soul Edge/Soul Calibur franchise. Soul Calibur is supposed to be the "holy" antithesis to the unholy weapon Soul Edge. Where Soul Edge wants absolute chaos, blood, and destruction, Soul Calibur desires order, harmony, and peace.

The ending of the fourth game showed that Soul Calibur was just as insane as her corrupt counterpart. Her idea of "peace" and "harmony" was placing everyone in the world in a crystalline stasis to uphold the ultimate ideal of order. No one can commit terrible crime or injustice if literally no one can move. Lawful good taken way beyond what it needs to be since one's idea and execution of justice can be arbitrary.

I think it's how it was framed. "Become what you must". "We fall" just to name a few examples. Gave me the impression that the time for mercy and compassion for my enemies is over. What's that, your granny needs a bottle of milk? Eff yo granny, I don't got time to give. Fight back the light of oppression with the darkness of justice.

Turns out with I was right with only the latter of that paragraph.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

Except "Become what you must" was accurate too as soon as Y'Shtola got involved and the trickle of revelations started.

Well, we did bring Darkness upon the first reflect, to the people of this world drowning in neverending light we pierced the blinding sky to cover them with the soothing cloak of the night.

Light vs Darkness isn't good vs bad, its not about how we murder people to spread evil upon the too much goodies. Its about how the ethereal energie of light overflowned and corrupt this world and how we methaphorically bring the darkness. We fought the corruption, make it our own and use it to fight for our own liberty to live.

Sure, we're still the Warrior of light with an edgy name but in the same time, from the point of view of ascien we definitely are the baddies obstructing the reunification of what was once one single world of perfection. We became what we must, we fully became the opressor of an ancient civilisation wishing to survive. We don't harness the dark energy but we sure fight against light aspected corruption and this is only the beggining, who know what lie ahead. The light still shine far too bright in this world and if the sky is now dressed of a sea of star it may still need to be filled of dark aspected ether and if not by wrongdoing we may still have to make it fall upon the source of this mess by our own hands.

They never said anything about us being anything typically "evil" or "bad" though. Light and dark, good and bad, it's all subjective.

From the 3.4 Warriors of Darkness' point of view, they were the good guys trying to save their own world. Had to do some bad stuff in the process, but it was ultimately for the greater good.
