Healer here, not liking GNBs Invun

Hello fellow tanks. I wanted to adress something that i noticed as healer with gnbs invun. So as everyone knows it works by dropping gnb to 1hp. The problem i have with this is if he is using it at the same time when i am using a healing cd to heal him up, he would immediately drop to 1hp again right after my heal hit him, leaving me behind with a wasted ogds/cast and forcing me to waste another gcd for a hard cast cure (in case ive got no other ogcds up.

I must say this is really annoying and happend already more than just once. Especially as AST am used to let tanks drop to the lower %tiles so that essential dignity can have its full effect.

I totally understand your frustrations Healz. I think a nice way to adjust Superbolide would be to give them an invul similar to HG for let's say...8 seconds or something lol. Then after those 8 seconds have passed, they'll be dropped down to 5% of their health bar.

The issue is the GNB in question should do it at a time where you have like 10-11k of your HP left because there is a delay on it exactly like Hallowed Ground, if the GNB uses it when they're at like 70% HP you're trading 70k HP that you didn't need to for an invuln that could have been utilized better with a healer if you use it at the right time. I've been using it when I know I can trade 10-11k HP and get dropped to like 7k hp when it goes off so I don't waste healers healing and I trade as little HP as possible so it gets the full benefit.

That sounds like a great way for Gunbreakers to die right after their invuln wears off. XD

Fundamentally, Superbolide is the same as Living Dead, which has always had this same sort of negative feedback, but has remained unchanged.

Living dead, places a buff on the target that says when the DRK reaches 1HP, to not let it go farther.

Superbolide just skips the part when you must have your HP knocked down to 1. It does it for you. You then have 8 seconds to get your tank comfortable, compared to living dead where you need to have them at full HP.

It might in play, take a few seconds off the timer because of the need to pop it early for Tank busters, but thats still a plenty of time for 2 GCDs and an ability heal.

You really can't compare any invuln to Hallowed Ground, just from how broken it is and the backlash that would result if SE changed it. Its the only one of its kind, all of the other invulns revolve around the idea of "Your HP can't fall below 1."

The problem is tho, that living dead does waste your healing cd if you happen to use it at the same time.

The problem is they wanted to kinda mimic how in FF8 you could get hit by an attack and be reduced down to exactly 1 HP. Imo I like it but I have suffered the "...they just benedictioned me huh." So if anything, I think it should be an hp down to 1 but invincibility for 8 seconds motif.

It's funny for scaring unprepared healers, I've had GNBs do it to me, and I in turn have done it to my healers.

People say Superbolide is amazing, I think it is the most useless tank invuln. Yes, even worse than Living Dead. Unfortunately, past experience has taught me that Squeenix won't bother to change it into something even remotely usable so I just pretend GNB is the only tank without an invuln.

I'd have preferred it to just be a worse Hallowed Ground by lasting a few seconds less than the mess it is right now.
