Why does <wait> not allow for decimals?

I'm curious as to why <wait> doesn't allow for decimals which would enable me to have my normal 1-2-3 rotation in a single macro.

Right now I could do it with the obvious loss of milliseconds after each ability, as I can only use 2 or 3 seconds as a wait timer, thus rendering the macro inferior compared to manual play.

Because the devs don't want players to put their rotations in a macro. Marcos are there for QoL stuff like Swiftcast + Raise + chat message or mouseover healing or quickly switching between hotbars etc. And from personal experience I can tell you that you don't want to have your rotation in a macro because it will get messed up if you need to move and if you play caster it will prevent you from doing anything else until the macro is over because cancelling spell #1 won't cancel the entire macro so it will begin casting spell #2. Or that is how it worked when I tried it quite some time ago. My idea as a healer was to put my dps rotation in a macro so it would only take one button and I wouldn't have to switch hotbars... horrible idea

    Evidently wrong:
    - Crafting macros have been in existence for a long time
    - Swiftcast + raise as a macro is a thing
    - PvP/MSQ-scenarios offer exactly that: 1-2-3 rotation as a single button

Crafting is a static repetitive environment suited to macros which do not require tight timing. Crafting macros could also, in theory, be faster with decimal waits. But it's entirely unnecessary.
Swiftcast + Raise still fails or otherwise doesn't work correctly every time, a risk taken by anyone using it.
PvP et al. is specifically designed around the usage of those skills as designed.

Comparisons are flawed. It's pretty clear that, no, the intention very much is that you're not meant to macro combat rotations.

I usually use /hotbar change X macros combined with /wait for class combos. You can remove the /wait line to change instantly but it's too fast.

Do not use macros for combat classes. Anything you put inside a macro will not benefit from the game's ability queue (basically it'll function like Play just did before they fixed it).

The <wait.x> command can't take decimals because the regular wait command cannot take decimals.

That is how the wait command, and the macro system, is designed in Final Fantasy XIV.

I don't like it either, but honestly, unless you're doing Savage content, just use them anyway and who cares if you're a bit less efficient.
    That's SE's problem, not yours.

Now sure, if you're doing top end content, you want to be the best you can be, so you'll want to have keybinds to your keyboard, period.
    Not to a controller.
But for casual content? Just go with what's comfortable.

I main WHM, so I don't use macros and set everything to my Keyboard for party content ... because I kind of have to, you know?
It's the trade off I make for not having to wait in line.
But if I'm going DPS in casual content or something, it hardly matters so long as I'm doing my job well enough.
...and for FATES? I just as well lost my keyboard altogether xD

People do savage and ultimate with controllers, this is false.
