How could you have teleported when you first started playing the game. Did people just walk up to you and ask to teleport you to all the camps even the mini aths that cant be teleported to unless you've been there already.I agree with what you are saying. It still remains a choice. I personally walked to every crystal when i started this game because i wanted to explore. The focus for people that started in the past few months seems to be to hit lvl 50 in all DOW/DOM as fast as possible.
All I am saying is removing the anima will only make things worse. I chose to walk to crystals even though i could have teleported.
Did people even read the OP? I keep reading about how bad it would be to remove anima, when that isn't even suggested nor supported by my original post, nor by any other I've read in this thread(maybe I did miss a post saying "ANIMA SUCKS, REMOVE IT COMPLETELY", which if I have, I apologize).
Wonder if people just go "OH A THREAD WITH ANIMA ON ITS TITLE?!?!? NO WAY YOU'RE GONNA TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME!" or "oooh it's THAT thread again, I know what it says, won't even bother reading".
Either way, people should calm down, and stop responding to topics they haven't read.
I'm ok with this anima system, it is pretty well balanced and the recovery rate is about right.
The only thing that really takes away from exploration, and that really annoys me, is that you can be teleported to places you've never been!
Seriously, the other day I was teleported to Mor Dhona to do some quest, and I thought it was just another zone, a purple one, but another place to go click on a "???" and hit return(chocobo music also removes a lot of great aspects this game has, but that's a whole different topic).
It wasn't until I had to walk there because I was out of anima that I really came to value it, and how hard it was to get there (from the black shroud).
And this is just an example. When I started I was teleported from limsa to windurst and uldah, and it felt cheap! I'm sure most players haven't even boarded the ferry.
I remember when I first reached San d'Oria, or my first jorney to Jeuno when I reached level 20, and I'll always remember that. That was exploration and adventure!
Conclusion:
I think it's great to teleport to wherever you want, as long as you've been there atleast once through walking!
It comes down to casual/hardcore environment again. The hardcore may have time to travel far off to get things done, but the casual might not have the time to travel around and might just wanna do the quest. The idea behind allowing anyone to travel through another person issuing it is so people aren't alienated form joining in an activity just cause they can't take the time to travel to an area. I think it brings about a nice atmosphere in which people don't have to feel left out or feel like they are wasting peoples time because they weren't able to obtain the teleport in question.
For those who have played XI, did you really enjoy it when a person was lacking an outpost or teleport and you would have to spend an extra 10-30 minutes waiting on them as they traveled to the destination based on where you were going?

How?
Some people actually offered to teleport me to the major cities and I said no. I prefered to walk. That may not always be everyone's choice.
The mini aths you mentioned are of course different, since you have to walk to all of them yourself.
Not sure how your question is relevant to this post.

so you created you character and as soon as you logged on someone asked you if you needed to be teleported?

I was running around outside UD and i asked for direction on something, i do not recall what, and after some conversation, they actually gave me 10 k to buy a weapon and asked if i want a teleport to Gridania. Why is that so fuckin hard to believe?
Your questions are WEIRD at best, I still do not get why you are asking them, but i figured I may as well humour you.

Bump Bump Bump!
I have been saying this since the day it went in. We must stop people from teleporting to places they have never been to.
Nothing kills the FEELING of progression like never having to find new places. What is the point of a world if you never have to see it?

This was almost never an Issue because people knew they needed the appropriate access to take part in events and more often than not were excited to make the trip for the first time.

Or they could, I don't know, give us a REASON to travel places?
I appreciate the AF quests that I've ventured on because they've so far had me traveling to places within the regions that I had never been to before. Places that may not exist after 2.0. To me this was a fun way to go exploring, while being productive toward my goals, and other people's goals. I got to explore these areas, and guess what? I teleported to the nearby camps to save time, because my time is important to me.
Regarding people being able to accept a port to an aetheryte that they've never been to - forcing players to travel through your world at inconvenient times (ala, when a party is forming/meeting someplace that they've never been to before, or when they're in a hurry to get content done before they have to go to bed for work in the morning) is not a good way to have players enjoy your world. I don't know about you guys, but I save my ports for group content, or when I'm in a hurry. Any other time I hoof it, or airship. Asking for tedium as a means of fostering exploration is idiotic, and counter-productive to the idea that you can hop on, run a couple of leves/quests, and go to bed on a work night.
Exploration is great when you have the time, and I feel like providing side quests, and storyline quests that send us to places that we've never been before is the best way to foster exploration. Alienating people who want to do group content but have not had the chance to touch an aetheryte is not the way to foster exploration, it is a way to create frustration.
