Red Mage Not Using Melee - Is it ok?

I will preface by saying I am a Red Mage main. Yesterday I was doing a high level duty roulette with another Red Mage who was not doing melee at all. I could not decide if it would be bad manners or rude to say something to them about it. What would you do? How badly is it nerfing their damage?

It comes back to people are going to play how they want to play. But I really wanted to say if you want to be a caster, play black mage!

Not using melee locks you out of your strongest skills, so no its not okay, but ice mages and freestyle SAMs exist so bads will be bad. Point it out to them politely then move on, blacklist if it truley bothers you. If they know theyre being bad and dont care theres no helping them

I was worried pointing it out might be considered harassment so I didn't say anything. Not sure how to nicely say "You need to be using your melee skills".

Well no need to word it that way but perhaps just point out that you do more dmg with your melee.
They may get offended but it is what it is. That person made the run longer and in turn harder on everyone, that's how i look at it if dps are not performing how they could

So the proper verbiage to not be harassment would be something like:

"Red Mage melee skills are a lot of fun! Have you tried them?"
"I love the variety Red Mage has! Jumping in for melee is surprisingly fun!"

Something like that...

not using melee is like 30-40% of total dps kit, i would have given him a simple even outdated RDM chart so he knows whats going on

I'd write this and totally move on.

Came across a very similar situation where a SMN was using Garuda against bosses. All I said was: "You might want to use Ifrit against bosses", as to what they answered with a silent "ok".

Guess what? They started using Ifrit on bosses.

Its a term for Samurai players who just sorta... press buttons. Like not combo'd buttons or just doing Gecko 8 times in a row, or Kaiten a Jinpu, ect.
