I'm just wondering why when fishing at a spot you've been at for a bit all of a sudden you get no message stating " something bites " or " the fish notice something amiss " or whatever and all of a sudden you start losing bait, what's going on ?

That's an (ineffective) anti-bot measure. It happens if you stand in one place without moving for too long. Just move a little bit and you should be fine.
OH, ok thanks ! I can see why it's ineffective, I mean just got there cast my line and that's what happens, not even standing there 30 seconds.................
I tried your advice and it did NOT work, I moved 6 different times, and even went to 2 other spots and the same thing. So I decided to go to the inn and log out, how long I'm going to stay logged out I have no idea, I just may let my remaining time expire which is 150 more days !
You are talking about two different things. The "amiss" message means you have been in one spot for what the game thinks is too long. The "nothing bites" can be wrong bait or you are too low for that fishing hole.
I'm NOT getting ANY messages, only losing bait !
Oh, sorry. I read your initial post wrong and thought you were talking about the "fish sense something amiss" thing. I have no idea why you'd start losing bait with no warning. Maybe something happened ion your chat filters and now you're just not seeing the messages?
Did you fish there earlier? And hadn't fished anywhere else in between?
The second anti-bot measure keeps you from fishing at one fishing hole day after day. It doesn't just remember day by day but even after the weekly reset.
Catch any fish at any other fishing hole, go back, try again.
But as I remember, and I only ran across this once, I got a nothing bites message.
/hmmm...

I am no expert on fishing, but doesn't the game say you can fish a spot too long? Which is why there is the catch and release skill? Or does that have something to do with anti-bot??
Stupid question. Are you reeling the catch in when you get a bite? If you don't, that can lead to either "nothing bites" or "the fish gets away"
The nothing bites can also happen if you mooch a fish that doesn't have the successive fish in that timer.
