My targeting goes crazy and rapidly & continuously auto-cycles through targets...

I've been experiencing this unfortunate problem ever since I started playing FFXIV again. I play in Windowed mode on Windows 7 SP1 x64. I have two monitors, and play using a keyboard 90% of the time.

    Brief description of the glitch:
I'm doing mission/leves/dungeon/etc and go to target a nearby NPC. My targeting system then goes crazy, and rapidly cycles (clockwise mostly, but also counter-clockwise) through all available targets indefinitely and without additional input.

This glitch also causes any keyboard input to be displayed from Right to Left. IE: I type "/shutdown" and it shows up "nwodtuhs/"

What I think may be causing glitch:
When I click into the window with my mouse, (from another active window) and then press tab, it randomly happens. I haven't been able to forcefully make this happen, it's just sporadic. I think it has something to do with the mouse & keyboard interaction to the windowed environment.

What I do to fix this glitch:
    1. Mash on my keyboard with both hands flat, concentrating on movement, targeting & camera rotation keys.
    2. Mashing on tab/shift/caps lock/ctrl/alt
    3. Stop what I'm doing, and shutdown the FFXIV program. Because of the keyboard right to left input, I have to enter "nwodtuhs/" in order to properly shutdown the game. (Very hard to use mouse to manually shut down program)

If anyone knows what's causing this, please feel free to direct me to another thread/forum/topic/etc. I've not tried the full screen, but due to dual monitors I'm sure I would be force closing the game far more often then this error occurs.

Sounds like the left/right is acting up for you. Obviously if the left-key is stuck it will always go to the start of the line and this would result in everything you type being backwards. It would also explain the target-jumping. Could be either the keyboard or the gamepad. Try cleaning your keyboard inside and if that doesn't work unplug your gamepad when the error occurs.

I cleaned out my keyboard by taking the keys off and spraying compressed air everywhere, I tapped the keyboard upside down and about 2~3 really small crumbs fell out. It didn't solve the problem, as I was still able to get this to occur. To explain better, I was able to produce the same problem by pressing only two keys.

[ Shift ] + [ Tab ] = error on about 30% of the times I tried. I was however, able to stop the error with those two keys but it's just frustrating to have it happen.

It's usually only when I recently enter the FFXIV Window from another window and press [ Tab ] and then press [ Shift ] + [ Tab ] to target something counter-clockwise.

Just a standard USB keyboard, that was about $15 at frys. I purchased a new keyboard & mouse and I am testing to see if that was the culprit. If it is i'll update, but haven't had much time to test this.

Those cheap keyboards usually ain't meant for gaming but this mostly only means that only 3 keys can be pressed at a time before random stuff occurs.

Still having this problem with a $40.00 brand new keyboard. Really think it's an interface error that I'm experiencing. Because it worked fine back during the beginning when i got the CE on launch day.
