Any craft Repairs/Affxing - are you for or against ?

So I thought that was a fairly interesting question in the poll.

What are your opinion's on that, personally I am in favour of both being available to any craft as long as the level is high enough.

It would save a lot of hassle and more people would be likely to level just one craft than all of them.

I'm sure people who have all crafting classes @ 50 will not be in favour though lol.

I can't tell really tell...overall I think some dependancy on other people i.e. other crafts is "good" for the economy.

In a perfect world people would interact with one another by themselves, but usually in MMOs you have to "force" interaction in some ways.

I personally grind all crafts(that are not 50 already) out of the reason that I want to be self sufficient and when it comes to HQ crafting, I don't really "trust" anyone else besides me to do it as good as possible xD
Same goes for Affixing, considering Double/Triple etc melds.

As someone with all jobs at 50 I have no problem with the melding by any DOH at 50. The real cost on melds is having to make many many of the base product. Do you want a tripple meld hat? then u have to make around 40~50+ hats to meld with. Its also annoying to swap jobs every time I have to meld.

As for repairs I just wish the system was smart enough to see that "yes player A has the required DOH and lvl rank so he can repair the item" rather then having to job switch every time to do the repair. I wish we could get a generic key item such as a "Toolkit" that is used for all repairs and follows the current rules but allows you to repair w/o changing jobs and loosing your timers etc.

Yup this would be the best way to do repairs I agree.

It would be nice if you could repair even if you were on a battle/land class if you had the required skill in the appropriate DoH class.

And a one click to repair all would be nice.

Its hard to find someone to attach materia imo. I said any class should be able to do it. As for repairs well i think its fine as is with specific classes, because we have an npc we can go to if we cant find someone.

kinda backwards I know but thats just my 2 gil :/

I said yes to the repairs, no to the affixing.

I have always been for any one being able to repair any thing with a higher botch rate for off class repairs.

I think they should keep repairing as-is, since you can easily get an NPC to do it anyway, and repair requests is a pretty cool feature. They don't need to "unrestrict" repairing any more than it already is.

Materia, however, is a different story. If they let all DoHs meld materia to anything as long as the DoH level was high enough, it'd be a really good thing.

-It'd make things more balanced for Goldsmithers, Alchemists, and Culinarians, who aren't able to meld materia as much as the other DoHs. These jobs currently aren't as viable as "main"/first DoH jobs since you can't use them for melding most of the time.

-Since there's no "melding requests" like there are repair requests, it really sucks to get all your equipment melded if you don't know anyone trustworthy with the right DoH job. You basically have to trade your equip and materia to someone else and I don't even know if people ever do this with strangers. I've never seen anyone /shouting for a melder in Ul'dah, for example.

-I really hate having to switch my DoH tool all the time when I'm melding several things that require different DoH jobs. It's such a chore of going in and out of laggy menus. Not my idea of fun.

Letting all DoHs meld would be a huge improvement imo.

for repairing i said it was fine as is.
for affixing, i said everyone should be able to do it. it really does become sort of a hassle.

my opinion might change if the following occurs:

some sort of passive system for affixing materia. (ie. I put the materials up in a bazaar like system, random crafters can affix. similar to the repair features now)

As an alchemist, I would like to (and it seems logical) that I be able to affix my own materia. Just my two cents. *shrug*

As they are now, I'm for any for both.

Repairs use a magical item to fix gear and materia uses different tools entirely -- even though your character uses your class' tools the key item you get are the melding tools.

This would be a big boost for crafters for one main reason -- fewer total crafts in the market.

I know a lot of people level multiple crafts and DoLs to fix and meld their own gear. This then creates more competition across all DoH classes. Since repairs/melding aren't a source of profit -- since if they can't fix or meld it themselves most players have a friend who can for free or at cost -- it'd be better for the overall community to take a one-class-does-all aproach.

That way people won't feel slighted when they release good items dominated by a single class like the Ifrit weapons and goldsmithing.

It's a win/win for all those involved, even those who will inevitably come on and say something like "One class can fix/meld?!?! Slippery slope argument #345,567,344!!!!"
