    So about Trusts post MSQ

Why do we have to level them up? Isn't the system supposed to be available for players to queue by themselves? Right now, after finishing the MSQ, every Trust NPC gets reset to level 71, doesn't matter if you took them into the later MSQ dungeons or not and here's a bit of early math.

Holminster Switch gives them 2.5 million exp.
Every NPC needs about 14 million EXP to get to level 72.
They do not get EXP from mob kills in the dungeon unlike you.
They do not AoE (except Thancred to get Enmity).
They do not use skills while boss mechanics are going on. Even if they are safe and ranged jobs.

Now at this rate, Holminster Switch takes between 30-40 minutes to clear depending on your own performance and role. Trusts NPCs will need 6 runs to hit level 72. That means just to hit level 72, you will need to spend 3 hours to get 3 NPCs to ding. Double that amount if you want to level them all. And that is just for one level! That doesn't qualify them for Dohn Meg! They'll need more EXP for 73 but won't gain more from Holminster Switch! Which means another 3+ or 6+ hours to just get them to 73!

I think I understand the purpose of Trusts for MSQ but I am puzzled by the system in the post-MSQ game. Why gate their purpose through a gruelling EXP grind? Was it even necessary?

It's basically because they don't want people to use it as a permanent replacement to the Duty Finder and other leveling methods they introduce (like the latest deep dungeon when that happens, Best Tribes, etc.). Being less-efficient time-wise is offset for DPS classes with long queues, so if there were no "raising" system, it'd be more efficient to level additional DPS jobs using trusts. This way, you "can" do it, but you have to work at it, so it's still worth considering other options. If you want to use trusts, I guess the most efficient way would probably be to level multiple DPS jobs at once and keep them in step with your Trust team.

Not saying it's properly tuned and this may be a bit aggressive (they could always buff the EXP gains if they want), but it makes sense in general concept why they'd do this. It's primarily to help people the first time through the MSQ for immersion and as a sort of "training wheels" for mechanics. Once you've been through that, they'd prefer you do dungeons with other players (but still give you this option, if you're willing to work at it).

I thought that they beeing weaker and the drop beeing much lesser were enough. Now we having to level them is like a "don't ever use them, ty" right in the face.

I thought that I could use them to level my DPS which suffers a lot from queue times.

I don't see benefit from leveling them if they are still weaker than squadron and we get less loot.

The ironic thing here is that anyone who DOES want to bother slogging through with leveling them will pretty much need to forsake using the DF for a while to do it, due to the sheer amount of runs they need to be leveled...

It's really such a baffling design decision made here.

The way I viewed trust in ffxiv was a way to get through the main story without having to wait in really long ques and to be able to do it with the actors in the main story... aka the scions.

I am actually ok with this as dungeons after the Main Scenerio are not required and this is a MMO after all dungeons/raids are the multiplayer part of it. And everyone knows the dungeons mechanics so the fear of messing up in a group should be lowered at that point.

I have no problem with leveling them to use in higher dungeons though.. but the XP requirements to lvl up need to be reduced heavily, 3-4 dungeons max per lvl I would say.

To be clear, I don't want any changes for myself. I just tried to use a Trust post game to see the results and thought this to be all peculiar. I much prefer DF myself.

The way I see it is they want to get people that want to keep playing with the Trusts on occasion out of the DF and into solo queues to re-level the Trust NPCs because there's no other rational explanation I can find for the current state of things.

This does seem to be an oversight.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
