Simpler targeting of party members for quick cura, or casting esuna..... maybe macro that combines sacred prism with either Protect and/or stoneskin.
Sadly, I'm not even sure what I'm looking for other than some guidance from other healers who use macros.
the system is pretty easy.
To cure it would be /ac "Cure" <st> this will let you select which npc to cast on.
because all your timers are on screen, it is a lot easier to track and click them from the bar though, IMO
Something I do is press f1 through f8 first to target the correct people then click cure and press enter,
Some people lock in a special cure just for the tank and edit it every time the party fills up so it always cures the tank,
example
/ac "Cure" <p3> where the tank is 3rd in the party list on the screen. hope this helps.
/ac "spell in game" <p0-p7> or <t> or any of these
<t> Displays current target name.
<me> Displays your character's name.
<p0> Party Member 0. Displays your character's name.
<p1> Party Member 1. Displays name of first party member in list.
<p2> Party Member 2. Displays name of second party member in list.
<p3> Party Member 3. Displays name of third party member in list.
<p4> Party Member 4. Displays name of fourth party member in list.
<p5> Party Member 5. Displays name of fifth party member in list.
<p6> Party Member 6. Displays name of sixth party member in list.
<p7> Party Member 7. Displays name of seventh party member in list.
<st> Subtarget.
<stpc> Displays available PC subtargets.
<stnpc> Displays available NPC subtargets.
<stenemy> Displays available engageable enemy subtargets.
<stenmity> Displays available engaged enemy subtargets.
<stparty> Displays available party member subtargets.
<lastat> Displays the last enemy that attacked you.
P.S. let me know if you try the class gear job changer thing, i thought it was cool and frees up 7 macro slots plus changes in a 3rd of the time.
Try:
/ac "Cure" <p0> (yourself) through <p7> (sequentially, the last person in the party list.)
Of course, this requires up to 24 macros (Cure, Cura, Curaga). And another 8 for Esuna.
If you have the room for those, which you should, go for it.
My signature is edible. Go ahead, try some.
the SS would be
/ac "Scared Prism" <p0>
/ac "Stoneskin" <st> to allow you to target tank or <p?where ever the tank is>
then /ac Protect <st> <p0> or same as above..
the game does the correct /waits for you with this setup.

this macro would cast cure on the first party member in your list:
/ac "Cure" <P1>
this one would cast fire on the currently selected target:
/ac "Fire" <t>
as an example you can chain skills via a macro like this:
/ac "Fire" <t>
/wait 2
/ac "Fira" <t>
is that what you need?

Thanks for the responses... great info so far.
What macros have you guys made for yourself so far that you use other than /ac "Cure" <st>. Is that pretty much all I need?

the macros I use most are for switching gear/classes/jobs, but I have a few for specific scenarios like this one:
/ac "Rampart" <me>
/wait 2
/ac "Sentinel" <me>
Optionally, for tanking the moogle fight you can add these lines to the macro above:
/wait 2
/ac "Sacred Prism" <me>
/wait 2
/ac "Cure" <me>
I have a few other macros for fun like this one:
/airquotes
/wait 1
/em make a face like a retarded bunny.
I only have 2 macros for targeting/provoking purposes. In my opinion, <st> isn't as fast as <p0-7>, because once you have your party list in your head without second-guessing it, you can literally just smash the appropriate cure macro without ever cycling through targets as you would with <st>.
My signature is edible. Go ahead, try some.

Well in XI I used <stpc> for heals and scroll through party list but stayed locked onto tank so he was always first to be targeted. In this game however I have yet to touch the macros for combat and have been working off the bar itself.

I use a controller for healing... am i better off teaching myself how to use keyboard and mouse?
