    An idea regarding removed skills

    So, as everyone has already noticed - a huge chunk of our skills were removed.
    And while it's understandable that our hotbars need some space for new skills, and some of old ones were almost never used, I am quite positive that there are some folks who would at least sometimes miss one or two of those animations we have lost...

    From what I understand all those animations are technically still in game.
    Idea is that some sort of a skills Glamour system could come in handy for this situation where each player can customize theirs actual skills to have a different animation. This can be implementet in the same way we can change the size of Summoner's Bahamut via macro. Something like:
    /skillglam "Aeolian Edge" "Dancing Edge" (/skillglam [Actual Skill Name] [Removed Skill Name])
    And like with Bahamut's size this changes probably should be visible to player himself only.

    Also think that this can be usefull to players who for some reason prefer animations of lower level skill to higher level skills (like Stone II instead of Stone IV).

    Would like to know others thoughts and opinions on this one.

    While I like the idea, I am not sure it is worth development time with so many other things people are asking for. A lot of which is already in the game and is already in place, just needs a few tweaks I.E. getting the rest of hair styles/headgear for Viera and Hrothgar.

    Maybe they can work on this behind the scenes and get it ready for 6.x or 7.x?

    Well, yes, of course this shoudn't be on Square Enix priority list. In any case there is a chance that adding this skill/spell glam system won't be too difficult to implement since it's mostly all about reusing already existing assets.
    And if developers can keep players entertained without sacrificing too much working hours, we may even see this in some 5.X patch. Who knows...
    Anyways, still would like to here some of other players thoughts, critics and/or additions on the idea itself before posting it in a "Suggestions" Sub-forums.

    Yes, also would like to see this idea come true. Especially after losing half of tanks skill animations. A bit sad that WAR can't spam Steel Cyclone under Inner Release anymore

    Yeah, something like that.
    Also remembered that there were some fine animations in Heavensward PvP and also we had Logograms from Eureka.
    So basicly there are tones of different stuff that can help us in customizing our usual rotations and giving some diversity to our roulette runs.
    And since I heard people asking a few times during FF XV collab event: in case if developers have some time and willingness to go forward with this system they can allow players to Glamour their Gap closers (Tanks and Red Mage) to that Noctis's Warp skill we were using during Garuda fight (whether to limit this visual change to those who completed this event or not should be up to devs...).

    I like the idea too. It would be great choose to have my DRK do the animation for Darkside when activating Grit as an example. But yeah, that is a lot of time and resources that could be doing something that isn't glamour. People would also find a way to complain about it, somehow.

    Spoilers, but not really all that severe...

    My favorite part was seeing some of the NPCs in the FIRST Gunbreaker instance doing Ring of Thorns...

    Like, I get old NPCs still using removed skills... but like, they just added this fight. Why they gotta open old wounds and remind me that RoT got removed the same patch they added battle actions to /gpose.

    Well, you are not the only one who misses Darkside Yes, once again this shoudn't be SE top priority, but from what I know - Developers team consist of several departments. And there are guys out there who mostly focus on re-tweaking an old content (giving fly ability to non-flying mounts, adjusting previous expansions relic weapons requirements and etc...) So that Animations customization thingy might be something they could do without sacrificing any resources that would go for developing new content and fixing current problems.
    And regarding people finding a way to complain about it - that's mostly why I started this thread, to see if someone might have issues with such a system and some possible workarounds around this issues. But to be honest, I don't see how someone can complain about something that happens only on other player's monitor =P Macro that changed SMN's Bahamut size worked out just fine. And I have yet to see Summoner saying something like: "Did someone just reduced the size of my Demi Bahamut on his own PC? How dare you!"

    Oof... Ring of Thorns. Kinda forgot about that one... Yeah, that shows once again how many cool animations we have in the game. And I'm sure that every skill required a decent amount of work from devs to create. Feels kind of wasteful to let 70% of them or so to just sink into the abyss like this (well we can find them on youtube, but still)

    Also realized that this system already exist in game in some form. Besides being able to change the size of Bahamut - Summoners can glamour their's Egi's with a use of a macro, making it so the next time you use your Summon skill you will have a Carbuncle insteas of a usual Egi.
