    DDoS is annoying but nothing that would bring SE to shut down forever. Especially not at it's Peak of glory (lots of Subs etc)

    No. DDOS attacks happen every expansion. They also happen around different holidays. Right now in the US, tomorrow is our Independence Day, so our script kiddies are having a field day. Facebook and Instagram couldn't post pictures today. They're back up.

    Any company worth their salt has redundancy in their tech infrastructure. The servers won't go down until SE takes them down.

    And yes eventually there will be a time when the plug will be pulled. Maybe in 10 or 20 years from now? Nobody knows for sure but yes the game will eventually come to an end.

    A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
