Another DDOS?

It's the holiday tomorrow and I guess everyone is logging on for their marathon. These wheelchair servers of FFXI couldn't handle the load.

This reeks of ddos. all of Zalera went down. I was in the middle of a trial and had to log on temporarily as an alt or attempt to at least. Then log back on with my main. You would think that if square made priority for subs then a ddos attack would be out of the question. Apparently I was wrong.

Wouldn't surprise me if they chose to attack again with the full release of Shadowbringers, distrupting the experience of those checking the game out.

You would think though that they would have done it yesterday for maximum effect. Most players who started on the 28th or the 2nd are probably still playing though so I guess it wouldn't matter.

Most games I have had experience with have had better protection against DDOS. It may have to do with the cross platform why it is so weak but there are temporary fixes a company can do to stop a DDOS that get servers back up for 5 min and repeat until the issue is solved. So either square is blind to it happening or doesn't have the system in place to counter it once the attacks started

was a kind way of me putting it. by far the worst CS I have ever had to deal with within a company since they cant even follow the rules they wrote up

exactly. their announcements about measures against RMT transactions are just words to act like they are doing something and reports against people using bots etc are a joke because they never do anything since they outsource security to a 3rd party that wont look into it until hours after the guilty parties have long stopped and there is no live proof. too lazy to check logs to see the evidence.. if my RL time requirements weren't as they are, i would go back to EQ2
