FFXIV unexpected error/crash

I have been getting these annoying crashes ever since i upgraded my PC (new motherboard, new RAM, M.2 SSD, etc). I have updated my drivers to latest, i have also upgraded windows to latest. This is the only game that is causing me this issue. I do not know what else to do any more.

I have attached my system information gathered from FFXIV launcher. Please help.

I have very similar hardware to this, running the new 1903 update and have the same issue. The main difference is that I run an RTX2070 rather than a 1080.

We both also use the same virus scanner, possibly related?

I've been tinkering with various things, reinstalled the game and even reset all my settings and deleted my saved character settings to no avail.

Next up on my to-test list is just flatout uninstalling my anti-virus, though FFXIV has already been excluded. (EDIT: Shortly after the initial post my game crashed yet again when someone used the Peleton skill. Uninstalled my Anti-virus now, but it's too late on the evening to properly test now.)

The issue seems to primarily occur when the game has to either load or unload assets. (ie when I enter a new zone, players teleport in/out or switch jobs)

How long have you been experiencing this crash? Does it happen anywhere else in game? Does the crash happen when there are any programs running in the background? Could you try disabling any overlays and closing any background programs? Please also try doing a cleanboot. Open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

I can't speak for the original poster, but personally I've been having this happen more frequently for the past week and a half or so. Prior to that the game would occasionally lock up loading say a YouTube video but not full on crash.

There's always programs running in the background these days. But ones I actively use would be chrome and discord. Other than that there is my anti virus and corsair and logitech software.

All overlays have been disabled already, first thing I do when games behave erratically.

I've already reinstalled the game and disabled as many background applications as I could think of. Having just uninstalled my anti virus ill have to get back to you on whether that works after work tonight.

I have had these issues since i upgraded my hardware on june 14th 2019.

I went from DDR3 RAM to DDR4 RAM
I went from running the game off my hard drive, to running the game off my new SSD M.2
I went from FX-850 AMD 8 core processor 3.2 GhZ to AMD Ryzen 5 - 12 core processor 3.2GhZ

You'd think upgrading your PC would make things run better lol.

On that note, I also have this issue with ONLY FFXIV. No other game has an issue with running.

The thing that bothers me is, I have had the same antivirus on the old system. I didnt have a problem. I install new parts/upgrades, and FFXIV begins to crash? Makes no sense.

I have the same issue, use to fine great with old hardware.
Now that I have i9 9900k, DDR4, 2080 Ti.
I notice frame drops that are horrible, that feels like you locking up and lagging which shouldn't happen.
I run other games just fine.

Okay, more testing done. Zero results.


New drivers, no go.
No virus scanner, no go.
Fresh boot, no go.
Clean install of drivers, no go.
Removing memory overclocks, no go.
Disabling SMT (Hyperthreading) no go.
Disabling CPU overclocks, no go.
Disabling nvidia profiles, no go.

Basically, short of reinstalling my entire system and praying that works for this one game I'm not sure what to do.
And it primarily seems to occur when either loading new players and maybe environments.

I've managed to mitigate it somewhat by moving to Spriggan, less of a population so there's less players constantly loading in meaning less chances of people that can crash me. But it's not a solution.

Is there any way to force the game to produce a crash log we can submit anywhere? As this is just silly.

Changing my render engine to DX9 for now to see if that stops the crashing and determine if it's a DX11 thing or just something specifically with the game.

I have the same problem, I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game twice. My graphics card recently died and I've installed a new one. Fresh install of Nvidia drivers.

These errors are getting ridiculous. I do not have any issues running any other game. You think SQE would have fixed them by now, knowing how old this game is. I am losing paid game time for a game that is not working on a better machine. LOL. Like for real?
