    Request: Ability Glamours

    There have been a lot of requests to revive animations for removed or changed skills over the years. We have egi glamours as an option. Can we have a similar system for some combat actions? Even if only limited form

    Example: Drk can replace Soul eater with Power Slash if they wish. Wars could choose to have steel cyclone animation for chaotic cyclone or decimate.

    There are so many great animations the dev team has worked hard to create over the years and players love them! A system to swap animations for similar abilities (single target combo finishers for other single target combo finishers. Aoe for aoe, etc) would be really cool!

    Additional stylistic visual customization is always welcome and we really love the attention to detail the devs give to all the great animations in this game. Its just so sad to see so many wonderful animations never see the light of day again. Any type of limited ability glamours would be super awesome and i dont think im alone.

    Alternatively, it would be nice if we could alternate our combos on the tanks
    e.g you'd alternate between power slash and soul eater animations
    I would also love to be able to replace quick nock with wide volley's animation

    I think the problem with that is every animation starts and ends at different times. I'm all for the idea but animations might look funny if you put a long animation on a quick skill.

    Thats why im proposing a fairly limited option, not a free for all. Gcds would be the only viable targets as swapping ogcds would make all kinds of extra problems like animation locks and double weaving. But gcds are much more consistent overall. Swapping soul eater with power slash wouldnt have any issues with timing. Tring to do something wierd like change ogcd carve and spit into gcd scourge wouldnt work at all.

    Im only siggesting the ability to change a few gcds per job. Tanks it would be the enmity finisher (they all got deleted), and some interchangeable ones like steel cyclone (which is still in the game but overridden at higher levels).

    Just old gcd skills being able to he glamored over a specific set of current gcd skills of the same type (single target/aoe). Not just a willy nilly anything can be anything else. I cant change the cone of overpower into a steel cyclone corcle for example. Even if it were just a single combo finisher able to be swapped per job would go a long way. Bitchers block, power slash, and rage of halone were all great animations. Even that would be great. Im mostly talking about tanks but it should apply to any instant gcd job easily. Casters get a bit more complex.

    I thought the idea that when we hit max level we begin to unlock points for a sphere grid (FFX), License Board (FFXII), or what have you was cool- this merit system allowing you to spend your otherwise lost exp (because you're at cap) on cosmetics associated with that job. So as you exampled you could change/upgrade your dark knight attack animation.

    Another example being the dark knight aura effect we saw in the HW job trailer that we don't actually have in game, where he burns/emits void energy. White mage may be able to break glamour rules by purchasing a holy breast plate glamour. Sort of want to make it a whole job now but also thought Golbez/Ex-Death inspired armor for Black Mage would be fun. Beyond unique opportunities to break the glamour and animations (normally not an option in game) there could of course just be rewards almost like the achievement reward system we have, and maybe even allow certain categories to have cross over points. For example you might have a dragoon with a lot of points (perhaps we can bring back the idea of anima currency lol), they have a lot of anima, and they can spend it on some jump changes (cosmetic), new mount (dragoon related), crimson gear, or an expensive glamour set that is shared between all melee damage dealing jobs. Being cosmetic only will prevent someone from reaching cap and then being told not only do they need a higher ilevel but they also need to grind 50 hours more exp for enough anima to buy the Legend of Dragoon armor and penta-thrust heavy thrust animation change.

    Also could probably stick some scholar/summoner fairy/egi glamour options in that :3.

    A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

    Ive wanted this since SB because Im not a fan of the heated shot animations on mch, being able to swap them out for the unheated versions, but retain the potency, even if its just client side, would be great
