So many questions regarding the Trust-system

    • As WHM I have to almost hug the enemies for the NPCs go get into action, as there's no order window like squadron has
    • NPCs are only using single-target spells and almost no AoE ones(I saw the tank use one once or twice), which means taking your Trust-party for a ride will takes exponentially longer than a normal party
    • NPCs are getting stuck/don't do anything during mechanics in a boss fight, e.g. the 1st boss in the new dungeon: NPCs avoid the mechanics, the boss is in range of at least 2 of them, as they're both ranged, but both don't do anything until the boss stops doing mechanics, after which they start attacking again
    • According to the short info screen item drops in a Trust party are fewer + some enemies won't drop anything.
Why? As far as I can remember squadron command mission don't have such a limitation

Well, if they made Trusts just as beneficial as running with a good DF group, there would be little incentive to play dungeons with your fellow players.

That's already in place and called squadron, though only from lvl 20-60 and at the cost of GC seals.

20-60 isn't current content, and unlocking squadrons requires you to have finished the 2.0 MSQ. Squadrons are side content to level up alt jobs, Trusts are a system designed to help people get through the MSQ without queues.

Most people that will use Trusts are not going to be using them on their first run through the content. Which means they're basically using them for their alt jobs. Which means the restrictions are unnecessary. And even the people that do use Trusts for first time run through content, they'll continue to use them after the MSQ. Which, again, makes the restrictions unnecessary.

I used them for the third dungeon. Sure it takes longer, they told us that. It's a fun experience though. I rather enjoyed it. Still better than most pugs I've had, and at least urianger heals and dps's.

    My experience has been this:

When it comes to drops mobs do not drop crafting materials on you and chests do not hand out dyes or prisms when you run via trust, any chest that would otherwise give 2 pieces of loot only give 1 piece of loot which is actually not a problem because you are not competing for loot and it was going to take 11-12 runs to level out of a dungeon trust or not so you will still gear out regardless. Not to mention that the dungeon is a lot less likely to throw something at you that you already have. It does seem like the drop rate of weapons has been improved as my every trust run almost always ends with me getting 2 weapons from the dungeon.

As it is I am going to make a fair chunk of gil off of these trust runs, as I intend to later farm poetics to get ilvl 400 gear for my alt classes as the first 2 dungeons do not have gear that looks all that great anyways. Not to mention it gives me another centralized level "checkpoint".

The runs do take longer because of the lack of AoE, and that you cannot pull multiple groups. Not to mention of course the AI prioritizes dodging a mechanic before it will resume doing DPS. They do however make up for this by just hitting like trucks when they do DPS to make up for the time lost by doing mechanics.

When it comes to their AIs I do like that their personalities do shine through, however there is still things to gripe about. Urianger in particular needs to learn to identify what cards he draws. I keep seeing him throw melee cards on ranged characters and ranged cards on melee characters. Then again even when he gets it right you do not really feel the effect of the card and seeing him throw ewers on me keeps making me go "I do not even use MP Urianger... oh right..." Lyna and Alisae also are annoying in that the first chance they get on a boss they will fire off the LB unless you do it before they can start DPSing again while mechanics are ongoing.

Overall though the trust system is good and I hope they start expanding it over patches into the older content. While there is concern that doing so will hurt the socializing aspect of the game, it provides an alternative to things like palace of the dead and heaven on high for leveling DPS in a timely manner.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I always do a first dungeon run with trusts. I like running through with trusts for levelling too.

One thing I thought was a shame was that trusts won’t follow behind you when you run away from them while fighting, meaning you can’t easily gather up all the mobs for a speed pull

I’m terms of how they engage I do agree it can be annoying that they stay behind you at all times lol. I’ve notice that there’s also a bit of a delay between the trusts finding the mob and actually attack them. I’ve found that if you get close enough to the enemies without aggroing them, tanks will then jump in and engage. Not that doing that is any simpler than just facepulling lol

I have had an easy time getting close to mobs without aggroing them. I just aim to come up behind the mobs facing away. It is only when you get a chain battle instance where the mobs are charging the group that I have issues with the mobs targeting me first, but for those just stack on the tank.

but sometimes i just keep using trust, i take slow anytime over "questionable" random pug
