    Because no matter what, you'll always have a group of people trying to mold SMN into their ideal vision of the job rather than except it for what it is. More over 5.0 SMN is a mix of player feedback (aetherflow lockout and unresponsive pets) along with some good ideas but not willing to commit completely to those ideas (Demi-Phoenix vs Demi-Bahamut).

    Ultimately any Final Fantasy MMO can't have Summoner as a job because players can't let it be a job. If or when SE makes another MMO, every job needs a summoned monster skill. It's the only way it'll ever work.

    I’m just annoyed that like 4.x, that they wait until after the first raid patch to make changes. The first set of raids will be being farmed by people by 5.1. That’s if we see any changes. I hate how the dev team doesn’t acknowledge the players when there is a pretty general consensus that we need changes

    do you think reverting the bad changes . fixing cooldowns . fixing potencies and I'm sure about it combining trance and bahamut would take just one month? what i think is going on if it's like 4.0x . they are working on the changes while releasing small Qol changes so that they can get all the changes out in one patch. Let's not be selfish monk just got the best qol changes he could wish for and Astro is now good . even my friend who i told her to not worry they will fix Astro and he will be fun told me how she indeed has fun now. they even added energy drain back to scholar who wanted it back even before the patch released. Ignore the thread of some scholars asking that they need it nerfed or remove the damage from it. even sam got some Qol . the 2 jobs that got nothing was smn and nin . i Don't think nin will get reworked but I'm sure that in 5.06 or 5.1 he will have major potencies or cool down adjustments. as for us we w8.

    I feel like my SMN is a mix of several ideas put together instead of a SMN itself and it's suffering because of Arcanist.
    SMN should be a standalone class.
    Bio and Miasma don't fit at all

    Fits just fine in FFXIV's SMN. Read what I posted about people trying to mold SMN into their own ideal of Summoner. Like I posted in your other thread, are DoT really demishing your enjoyment of playing the job? Do you feel like you would be happier playing something? Don't ever play something because you want to enjoy it. I really wanted to play Summoner in FFXI but I hated it. Rather than being miserable I moved on and played BLM and COR. I hated FFXIV 3.0 SMN and played MCH instead.

    Here youve already read it but ill put it out for anyone else since its summoner related . Also literally a guy wrote why lorewise we got dots i know there are some who say screw the lore but on this lore has been build the entire magic system of ff14 not just summoner.

    I'm sorry if I'm really harsh. You're entitled to have your own opinion ofc and I've been told before by my friends that I'm too overzealous. not just to you but to everyone . but I'm also frustrated and since the devs supposedly read the forums im afraid of summoner being completely destroyed and becoming unrecognizable . You have to understand that 4.0-4.1 summoner wasn't unexpected as a summoner we went through all of arr and then hw learning how to summon demis and we finally did it we summoned the biggest and strongest of all the primals. I'm sure 1.0 players would have been double excited since it's the entity they watched before the world end . and now we were finally free ,free to trance other primals to summon demis, Ramuh leviathan shiva knights of the round the triad bishmark ravana Lakshmi susanoo even shinryu. and all of it gone ,everything, as much as i like pheonix the first thing that i thought was why did trance change ? but then i thought a bit more and even like this lorewise it made sense instead of using inside the rotation to summon it you now train with it using it till you learn how to summon it and it was the only way to show the evolution of the summoners knowledge. This is the idea the sliver of hope . I eagerly w8 5.1

    Excuse me but the only way for SMN to keep the DoTs was forcing Ruin's damage to scale with them being on the enemy, thus increasing the ramp up time to deal damage by a lot and making it difficult to target switch.
    At low level instances, you barely get to cast Ruin twice because wasting time applying two dots which hit for nothing so Ruin stops hitting for nothing.
    It's a mess.

    it's the opposite the only way to increase the ruin dmg was to make them scale from dots. they didn't give a third dot in ruination for nothing

    Well then I guess SMN is borderline useless in most content as target switching to adds in boss fights is a thing at most fights.
