SMN and RDM are inferior compared to their BLM counterpart once a group has learned content. No other role has to deal with this. The raise tax needs to be looked at, or raise itself needs to either be removed or limited in some way. I get that having a non healer job having the ability to raise people is nice for progression, but we now have a DPS role that has 2/3 of its jobs balanced around a healer ability. I like caster classes. I don’t really like the play style of BLM compared to SMN or RDM. I don’t mind dealing less damage than a BLM as a SMN, but I’d rather have utility that’s actually going to make me feel like my spot in a group is justified. As it stands now, many groups are running SMNs and to a smaller extent RDMs, and then switching to BLM once they have those fights are on farm. It feels bad.

I know numbers aren’t balanced, but jobs are mostly balanced around their ability to deal damage, and their ability to boost damage.
There are other things taken into consideration, like ranged DPS ability to move 100% of the time, or defensive utility, but the raise tax is so steep.

I’ve posted this in several places. Why not give healers a role action that is an instant cast rez for 0 MP, on a super long cooldown.
