Why the complaints about Duty Finder?

So I've always been a lurker on these boards and for years all I ever see is how bad DF runs are, bad players, toxic, etc...

Talking to my brother and between us we have ran thousands of DF dungeons, trials, and raids and 99% of the time they go smoothly. We can both count on 1 hand the really bad experiences we have had. Yeah you have the occasional run that takes twice as long because there is a bad player(most of the time a new player in my experience).

IMO it is way overblown. 99/100 times my average dungeon/raid DF experience is

    o/, hiya, hello

run the duty with minimal to no issues

gg, have a good day, thanks for the run

every now and then and more often in alliance raids conversation will break out.

No way my brother, my FC, and myself get that lucky to really never have a problem with Duty Finder. When I was leveling tank jobs I would ask if everyone minded full clear runs and most of the time they obliged. The ones who said they just wanted to clear that is what I would do.

I was just reading a post about how someone would not play till trust were implemented or it could be run unsync. IMO if you are experience a lot of bad groups all the time there may be a common denominator.

Yes it's usually exaggerated. Vast majority of the time DF runs will be fine. But those that aren't stick out, and so people focus on those and complain about them.
And when you're running dozens of duties via DF a day or week, the bad ones start to add up.

hmm well it depends on the day and it definetely depends on the content.

Dungeons? 99% of the time it's fine.

Trials? i'd say for me it's like 60% okay to 40% not great and within those i would say about 2% of each being either exceedingly good or exceedingly bad.

Extreme stuff? 90% is not great and half of it... is barely passable.

But what do I know. I'm just throwing percetanges off of what it feels like in to me in general.

90% of the time its 'fine' but if you were to turn on a damage meter or watch what people are actually doing, it bbecomes clear a lot of people dont know what theyre doing

Well, it highly depends on where you put the line of a good/fine/bad run.

Is a 40 minute dungeon run without wipe good/fine/bad?

When you consider that good/fine, then 99 % of runs go smooth for your.

But I (and probably many others) would consider that a bad run, because either there was someone afk or the tank was pulling incredibly slow, the dps was horrible, the healer did nothing but a cure every minute, or all of this combined.

Yeah it is almost 99% of time it is fine
But ppl tend to remember the worst and never remember the good

And also there are ppl with high standards like you can’t make a single mistake in non savage/ex run or everyone have to beat the dungeon like top 10 time trial

It's a case largely I think of bad experiences sticking out. I rarely remember the dozens and dozens of runs that went well, except maybe the first one for a new duty, but the bad ones stick out in memory.

The vast majority of duty finder runs I go into work out just fine.

I've had very few genuinely good runs compared to how many were completely awful or sub-par. During the recent Mog tome event I saw mechanics in Syrcus Tower that I hadn't seen since ARR because the DPS was so low. To this day people still mess up Labyrinth of the Ancients and I have to actually tell everyone to wait before pulling the Atomos fight. Then there's other times where some people (who aren't new to a duty) just fail basic mechanics over and over and we have to carry them through, and if you ask them what the deal is they're just like "lol watching Netflix". My favourite are DPS that pull enemies before I even get there as the tank.

It's not hard to be good enough at this game and also not be a total blight on the rest of the party or alliance, but most of the time people just don't put in the effort. They just want to win without any effort, and get extremely rude and offensive if you ask them to just play normally. I guess I see it more than most.
