THM can give Rite though, and it's not saying the idea of BRD is unrealistic, it's saying the idea of BRD can ballad PLD in certain fight is unrealistic. It's like saying driving a car into a river is a bad idea doesn't mean drive a car is a bad idea.

Thank you everyone for your discussion and feedback regarding Paladin! We will be making adjustments based on all of your feedback.
We forwarded the feedback in this thread to the dev. team yesterday (the same day it was created), and since Bayohne, Camate and myself get into the office later than when the community team in Japan receives a response from the dev. team, they post before us if they have the same topics of discussion regardless of who submitted the feedback first.
I'm sorry that you may be upset at the timing we receive feedback, but that is what happens when the developers are 14 hours ahead of us.
Bethany "Rukkirii" Stout - Community Team
We get responses all the time, idk what people are talking about, I do hope they realize the community team works on both XI and XIV forum responses.
Thanks for the response! I personally look forward to what might be done here. I'm actually a bit glad the response was somewhat belated here as I think it allowed for some nice discussion back and forth for quite a while.Thank you everyone for your discussion and feedback regarding Paladin! Yeah NA mods are usually pretty quick about getting responses to us considering they're not on the same continent as the dev team. I'm pretty sure we've gotten some responses before the Japan side (if only because we're the only ones asking) so that's a thing too.
@Phobos I wasn't trying to imply that paladin could hold AOE hate off of a warrior who wants it since gla has never been able to do that to mrd. It's more about utility. The comparison to WAR for raw tanking is going to be rough since warriors basically hit the lottery when you look at subclasses and job abilities. I guess I just had different expectations - based on early info and the patch notes alone I expected paladin to be a lot worse than it is and for warriors to be walking gods. Instead, we got paladins who are pretty good and warriors who are probably walking gods. That said, I did write that post at 6am right before I went to sleep so maybe I said some things I didn't mean to.
If they want to buff paladins or shields in general that's great too. I hope they change up the block formula so that dLVL has less of an effect on your chance to block and maybe give Flash a mind modifier like Flat Blade got. Perhaps they'll make Divine Veil also restore MP when outside cures are cast on you.
I think I get what you mean about expecting PLD to be worse, I just personally wasn't expecting it to be worse at tanking than GLA, which from my perspective seems to be the case. I hadn't really looked at warrior pre-update, so the sheer awesomeness that they are was sort of a shock to me. I still don't see enough benefit to PLD even to enmity through potential cures to warrant using it.If they want to buff paladins or shields in general that's great too. I was thinking more on this, and the MP restriction would be fine if it weren't for the lack of any extra damage mitigation. If the result was a tank that took less damage, had an extra combo for a little more enmity, and was meant to heal others when needed for a even more enmity - that would be fine. Unfortunately, since we don't take any less damage on PLD over GLA, GLA edges out ahead.
I like your idea on shield blocks - I was discussing this with a friend last night who suggested the same thing; that the dLVL for blocking has too much of an effect so it negates shield use. I was actually considering doing some moderate block testing tonight to see exactly how it's working for myself.
I think your on to something, essentially adding traits to the job that are visible. Perhaps these traits are something that can also be quested for as well, adding in more quests, story, and fun.Perhaps each of the job stones should give an effect that aids each of the jobs and helps to pigeon hole them even further.
Ex. Paladin: When equipped with the Paladin Job stone, Blocking an attack restores a small amount of MP.
Dragoon: When equipped with the Dragoon Job stone, missing an attack increases the critical chance of the next WS.
Monk: "" Monk "", evading an attack increases attack power for a limited time.
etc. Just something outside of skills and AF to make the jobs more appealing and helps to negate their short comings, making them a more viable option than their class counter parts.
Just a thought along with your idea.![]()

Seeing as the Job quests are what took the longest in this update (from what I gathered from the information that was out there) I would think something like this would take a while. I do like the idea of the job stone showing what it will do to your traits (for PLD apparently it would say something like -10STR +10VIT as it currently stands). I think adding more quests to enhance the inherent boost for the job would likely take a while, but I really like the idea personally, as it expands on both the lore/questline and the specific role of said job (boosting it to -20STR +20VIT for instance). Something like this would be really cool.

Fair enough but I wasn't talking about timing. Just seems like sometimes we get hints instead of direct answers compared to other language forums. Maybe it's just translations or manner of speech, or maybe I'm just way off. No racism intended at all, just wondering.Thank you everyone for your discussion and feedback regarding Paladin!
