Still can't change Audio Device without Restart - 2019

Hey there. Just wanted to bring attention to a rather annoying issue that has been around since initial launch of this game.

The game just can't adjust when you change the audio output device. You have to restart every single time (sometimes it even crashes when you disconnect the currently used audio device). Which really shouldn't be an issue for a modern game.

I think its about time this was fixed.

Now you see, I was the opposite.

I switch between a sound bar hooked in through optical cable and my wireless headset often. Before ShB, I'd have to restart the game. After ShB, I can now hotswitch and not have to restart.

Really strange....

Yeah, this is a thing fixed with the expansion. The only exception seems to be Bluetooth devices.

I am using a bluetooth headset so guess I'm still part of the non-fixed audio devices. But good to hear that others are fixed at least.

Im using a BT headset and hardwire speakers. I can go back and forth in game without issue in ShB

edit- I should probably expand on this

My speakers are plugged into my monitor, because i have my PS4 hooked up to it as well, so all DSP and HDMI connections to my Monitor will play sound from my speakers
Then i have my sony gold wireless headset plugged in via the BT usb stick provided. I can change the audio source from windows to either my monitor to play through speakers or my headset

Hm.. does not seem so optimal, even without bluetooth.

Like, aside from bluetooth, I got two audio devices - my Monitor and my Laptop (which runs the game). If I got my laptop speakers active, I usually have wired headphones plugged into the laptop, and simply unplugging them switches freely between laptop speakers and headphones. But - if I change the audio device from laptop to Monitor or vice-versa, the game doesn't adjust to the change and keeps giving the audio through the formerly active audio device.

Fazit: Still have to restart the game with most audio device changes, still not really optimal solution on the game developer's side.
Can't really call it 'fixed' when it only works in some specific cases.

I had a problem with connecting my sound bar I would always lose sound, and occasionally would have my game crash. Just before SHB I switched to my speakers thinking that there was conflict going on where it was trying to access my speakers and couldn't find them. Ever since, I've not had a problem or a single crash. However, after reading this, I'm wondering if it's got something to do with SHB and being fixed!! (I know I wasn't the only one who had the same issue)

Fwiw, the issue was only fixed because it happened to the SE dev team during a SHB live letter and it caused them a bunch of issues. I assume that whatever fix is in now was enough for their own purposes, so I'm doubtful they'll fix it further without a lot of complaints.

This is my biggest issue with the game. I have to relog whenever there is a change in environment to require headphones. I hate wearing headphones if I don't have to. Just an annoying thing to deal with for this many years.

The issue seems to be fixed in my scenario now.


I play on PC using either the monitor speakers (1) or a pair of wired headphones (2), whenever I switched between audio devices the game would lose audio and then it was necessary to restart (a) or the game would crash (b), I just tested it now and it works.


Thanks Hydaelyn SE had the issue occur to them if that's the only reason why they fixed it!...
