This is my first time ever seeing this issue in the forums, so if this is something more common then my mistake. However, he would get more help if he contacted square enix support, because there isnt much anyone can do about it here. This is definitely not an issue that is exclusive to the OP. It has been mentioned numerous times on here.
Ever since I pre-ordered the Shiva statue roughly 1~1 1/2 years ago, I’ve had to change my password every time I access the SE Store (only the SE Store—Mogstation, Account Management, and the Lodestone/Official Forum do not have this issue no matter where I log into them from). Even when its from the same device on the same network, I have to reset my password—I logged into the store earlier to check for my expansion preorder code on my desktop that I log into the game with every day, and immediately was told my account was “locked” due to “suspicious activity”. ??? How is me logging into my Store account on the same PC I use to play this game every day suspicious? Meanwhile, I took my laptop to my college campus a few times and logged into the game from there and was never hit with a “suspicious activity” message despite being on a completely different network and logging in with a different IP as a result.
This was never something I had to do prior to pre-ordering that statue, and I had ordered a lot of FFXIV merchandise from the store before then dating back to 2015 (artbooks, OSTs, the lorebook, plushies).
And while I do not have a OTP set up, I have friends that do that have recently started getting these suspicious activity warnings as well when they would log into the store. It seems to be exclusively related to the SE Store and no other service tied to FFXIV.

When I pre ordered the expansion from the se store I too had to change my password due to suspicious activity. Like... do they want us to buy stuff from them or no? So annoying. Luckily that’s the only thing that seems to trigger that problem for me, so I plan to just never log in to the se store again unless absolutely necessary. I’m very glad the email confirmation for the pre order has a direct link to a page that will display my code with no login required and thus no resetting of password necessary.

Short answer is just add a one time password to your account (it's free for the software version).
It makes your account considerably more secure, you'll never again get these alerts/have to change your password... and you get a free teleport location in game.
Win/win/win.

I had this. Twice this week since EA I've had to change my password. Finally did the one time password thing, so hopefully this crap with "suspicious login activity" ends...
Its great to see that I am not the only one. I visited the SE store to check if the code is useable and then went into the game. A bit later I was thrown out and told that my account was locked..a bit shocked because I feared that maybe I got some Virus on my PC and that it will take to unlock it. Changed the password and it was fine again..but now I just dont feel like opening that website again..
I think it may have to do with how long you leave your account on for the Mog Station or SE store while you are online in the game. I had to change my password twice in my 5 months of gaming due to having my account online on 2 different things at once.
And mind you, i was using both my ps4 for the game and my phone for the store, so i was in control of my account at all times.
I used to have this, i installed the one time password app on my phone, never had the problem since, password in open app enter code and done. Never had a suspicous activity lock or password change needed since i got it.
The app is free, even if someone gets your password they cannot log in since the code can only be sent to your app/physical security key and a free teleport location.
Not bad for free.
I don't get why someone should get their SE-Account locked when you go to the SE-Store. That are two different services where you have different account names and passwords. So can someone explain me how you get locked on one services when the two aren't connected with each other?

In the case of my account, it is linked with my SE Store account. They share the same username and password, and this has been the case since I bought this game in 2015. Perhaps it's because I play on PC with the non-Steam client, but they have always been linked to one another.I don't get why someone should get their SE-Account locked when you go to the SE-Store. That are two different services where you have different account names and passwords. So can someone explain me how you get locked on one services when the two aren't connected with each other?
