I watched the full review and while I don't agree with it, I have to admit he's the architech of his own misery. He was excited for HW content yet paid to skip HW. It's not surprising he's getting ratio'd.

I mean, he's not wrong.
The leveling in this game is just awfully boring. Makes for a completely forgettable experience.
That's fine. He's entitled to his views and opinions.
While I don't mind LazyPeon, he doesn't exactly hide his bias from time to time. FFXIV just isn't a game that will ever resonate with him due to its heavy emphasise on story and a slower combat system. Outside WoW, he almost exclusively plays action oriented games in the MMO genre; Black Desert being his last "main" game, which he quit several times and ranted about.
That all being said, what he said isn't entirely without merit. A Realm Reborn is painfully slow. Between a myriad of utterly pointless fetch quests like Company of Heroes; a 36 long quest chain with maybe four plot related quests, poor pacing overall and the absolutely awful 2.1 to 2.3 arc. I cannot rightly fault his complaints, especially when coupled with how incomplete a lot of jobs feel at low level—made worse by how easy everything is. A lot of people are turned off by all of this. One rant Lazy made in an old BDO video I support wholeheartedly is games as a whole shouldn't need 10+ hours to "get good." While subjective to an extent, FFXIV does suffer from that trope. I didn't mind the slow aspects when I first started but I can certainly appreciate why it might be a turn off for others.
Overall... I think he let the bad aspects of FFXIV and his own previous bias cloud his judgement a bit. At the same time, I won't write off his rant as just "whine-y" when there are fair criticisms rooted within.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."

And another youtube gives it rave reviews.

Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
So who is this guy again? With less than 500k subscribers and 200k views on the video, he is a step above "literal nobody", but I don't think he alone is going to stop people from playing the game. He didn't like FFXIV? That's cool, different strokes for different folks. Some people love WoW, where i think it's a unplayable dumpster fire, but I'm not gonna freak out because someone put up a Youtube video saying they like it.
Anyway, my meaningless 2 cents.
@topic--Lazypeon makes good "first impression" vids--he's not the type of "reviewer" you'd trust to give you sound advice on which MMO you'd play for a long time. and at my age, I know well enough first impressions hardly matter. if I'm really interested in a game, I'd play it myself. as a longtime MMO player, I also like to watch "reviews" like Peon's to see how the first few levels of a new MMO would look like. mostly the character creator part
his further "review" of FFXIV is just him trying to justify why he couldn't stick with the game. he likes action MMOs more as some have already observed, and he seem to favor PvP-centric games too, it's no surprise he'll hate FFXIV. needless to say, his video echoed some valid complaints the FFXIV community had already expressed. regardless, if SE continues to care for the quality of the game, and listen to the community when warranted, then FFXIV should endure. there's no need to listen to negative feedback from people who don't plan on contributing to making this game better.

When using mobile phone you can request desktop site which will gain access to the edit feature (just makes the page look like the desktop...his further "review" of FFXIV is just him trying to justify why he couldn\\'t stick with the game. he likes action MMOs more as some have already observed, and he seem to favor PvP-centric games too, it\\'s no surprise he\\'ll hate FFXIV. needless to say, his video echoed some valid complaints the FFXIV community had already expressed. regardless, if SE continues to care for the quality of the game, and listen to the community when warranted, then FFXIV should endure. there\\'s no need to listen to negative feedback from people who don\\'t plan on contributing to making this game better.), you can find this usually by clicking three dots or lines things that look like main menu / setting buttons (top right or by the address bar in your app, depends on if you're using chrome, firefox, or what have you, but most likely an option in the menu).
Interestingly there is some info on mobile that isn't on the desktop page, so it can be fun to go between them and see the differences lol.
Also the slashes appear after apostrophes, usually.. lol, while editing and such on mobile - which is fun stuff.
gosh thanks, I should've known. it's been years since I used my phone for the forums, and almost a year since I was actively posting, and I was trying to fall asleep (but being on the phone in bed is bad for your backs when you wake up kids!) so I just didn't bother
