    Ran'jit's strength makes no sense

    Character limit

As much as I love the MSQ, the one thing that irritates me is Ran'jit's ability to for some reason beat us. I can kind of accept that Zenos can considering he has his own version of the echo and is known to be overwhelmingly powerful, but I can't really accept Ran'jit being even more powerful than the guy who singlehandedly(?) defeated Thordan and Shinryu possessed by Zenos, especially being backed by the scions. Heck you even fought Omega, you know, the guy who fought a calamity level Shinryu

He may be the general of the largest army in the world (A laughable statement since when we storm Eulmore we fight mostly civilians and maybe half a dozen or a dozen soldiers), but that's like saying you're the biggest goldfish in the bowl, it's a small world and even though it has its hardships I highly doubt such a guy would be able to defeat the WOL backed by the scions, disregarding how he one shots everyone by some bs. I like the story but I really wish they would leave out the forced defeats, he shouldn't even hold a candle to the WOL and if they wanted to create a believable antagonist they could have done something involving the light wardens

Well compared to us he has been fighting Sin Eaters for most of his life already which are currently the strongest enemies we have ever faced currently.

The Echo also does not give us enhanced powers but only visions of a soul's life and sometimes allows us to hear the voice of the soul when they cannot speak nor be seen by normal people.

We are very normal when fighting against normal people as the power of the echo and blessing is basically "off" unless we fight Primals or beings outside of the natural order of the world. Those are the only times the Echo is considered "On" during battle.

    Well... Plot armour... I guess.

Low key was hoping that he would get eaten by Sin Eaters at Rak'Tika.

On the other note during that time... Dat Rescue doh.

I can't help but feel like he's this world's Ivon Coeurlfist. He's just an extremely powerful MNK or something.

    Yeah...

How he somehow goes from being able to beat us AND most of the Scions to having trouble with just Thancred felt kind of silly and I was half-expecting that he was part sin eater or something to be that strong.
though that's not the only power discrepancy that's kind of bugging me.

    *End of MSQ spoilers*

Namely how Zenos apparently stomped Elidibus despite him being implied to be at least as strong as Emet-Selch (Who was so powerful that we needed help from the Scions and Ardbet as well as the excess light from the wardens to destroy him), which indicates he was somehow stronger then we were when we fought Elidibus despite him not even being in his original body.

Elidibus didn't really indicate that he was struggling to deal with us aside from expressing surprise at how strong we had become, while he stated that he got overwhelmed by Zenos.

Potential spoilers for those who haven't gotten far enough.

In short, there are a few things to consider:

    - He was not only a general of arguably the mightiest army on the first, but dialogue suggests he had been so for generations - most of which was spent combating the Sin Eaters, even seeking each generation of Minfilia to train them. In short, he's no slouch even just from a typical martial/human sense.

    - When you hit the conclusion of the Eulmore Duty (and gain some insight into the somewhat disturbing diet-related points of those who resided within), one look at Ran's pasty appearance gives me the impression he's partaken of what I will simply name Sinflesh. While that was mostly to do with influencing the corruption in a sort of mind-control way, one could assume it might have other undescribed bolstering effects.

    - Lastly, plot armour. I liked Ran'jit - he certainly did give a sort of impression of being a shattered version of Ivon (and thankfully without too much story spoon-feeding to try and make you like/hate him). He was a crisp, cleanly handled sub-villain and they did a solid job of making his presence indicate that things were going to go pretty badly, without encroaching too hard on Zenos-levels of "I'm so mighty I'll just let you break yourself on me while I walk menacingly at you".

Well this fight was the battle against.....

Ryne's father. vs a Maddened general who saw himself as Ryne's father. Thancred may not have been this resolved in the past but this time he is because he already resolved himself to become the better Father for Ryne when he could not be for Minfilia because he spent most of his time working (making friends and flirting with girls to gather information) rather than helping raise Minfilia.

    Regarding spoiler:
Emet-Selch stated in the ShB story that Lahabrea became weaker because he so often switched bodies, while Emet-Selch prefer being in one body for as long as possible, and in the same form. That might be why Zenos could overpower Elidibus so, but it doesn't really account for Zenos also having switched bodies, so I don't know. We'll have to wait and see in future story patches I guess.

    Quote/banter during a MSQ:
    Elidibus:
Be it for a year or a millennium, I prefer to retain the same form until my duty is done. So, after arriving here in the First, I fashioned some hapless body into the you see before you.

Though as your friend over there can attest, there are those of us who forgo such alterations.

He was ever the rash one, Lahabrea. Jumping from vessel to vessel. Never heeding the toll it took on him.

    about Ran'jits

in the fight with tancred when he call the dragon for wear it he say something strange, he call the dragon my kin... because Ran'jits is clearly the general for very long, he seems to have meet every minfilia incarnation, then can we be sure that he is human or not some sort of being?

    So regarding the Elidibus thing.

As Zenos mentions, he never properly fought Elidibus to begin with. Elidibus didn't put his all into it (probably because there was no point in doing so), laid out the exposition Zenos wanted, then abandoned Varis to his fate. Zenos openly laments not getting the chance to 1v1 himself, too.
