Sorry, but this isn't really true. There are quite a few solo scenarios in the BLM job quest line where having Drain made things substantially more reasonable. They're do-able without it, but are noticeably more difficult. In a party, your HP should never drop that low. If it does, it should be from a scripted move followed by scripted healing.
Solo, your HP should never drop that low. If it does, you're not killing the thing fast enough or you're doing something you're not meant to be soloing.
There are no such situations for BLM where Drain would be meaningful.

Its like you don't know the meaning of clutch. In a party, your HP should never drop that low. If it does, it should be from a scripted move followed by scripted healing.

Its situations that RARELY happen
and you just saying that there is no situation that it was meaningful...your opinions cant erase the reality of the things that happened the small lil times a triple casted drain was useful to me.It was useful those little times and its annoying for skills to be removed without giving something back, like they removed the almost useless physic? they gave drain which scaled off damage which was a tad more useful so it was fine. 1 for 1. Its very bad game design to jurt remove things without giving other types of tolls that do a comparable role back of the skill that was removed.

In this case, I think the cases where it was extremely valuable are rare enough that it's not bad game design to remove it. We got by just fine without it before Stormblood. We'll get by without it now. For it to actually be worth leaving in the game, it would have to be made significantly better than it is. Also keep in mind that it wasn't BLM specific. It was magical DPS, and it was useless to RDM once they got Vercure, and useless to SMN (though maybe less useless now, thinking about it).Its like you don't know the meaning of clutch.

In which case triple casting drain would be more useful than, y'know, pressing the manaward button? Its like you don't know the meaning of clutch.

Manaward is sometimes on thing thing called a cooldown.
@Zyneste It wasn't usually in dungeons. It was in 8-man raids. Mainly in the Omega fight. And to be fair, I wasn't always depending purely on the Drain for this. My Paladin friend would also Clemency, but it often took both to keep me alive when healers were being shitty, but there were numerous times I got myself up just enough to survive a raid wide aoe by spamming drain beforehand. With competent healers, of course, I never cast Drain. Like I said, I'm perfectly fine with it being removed, but it was fun to make use of in those rare occasions where it was actually useful.

To be fair, Drain didn't exist in this game until Stormblood. Granted, it was nicer than having a cross-class Physick based off mnd stat.Im really upset the loss of this skill.Drain has been a spell in the blackmages repertoire since final fantasy one.I cant count the time this skill saved me in a clutch in a party situations when the healer is busy to heal myself really quick some to keep dpsing and in solo situations. If your damage was really high you could triple cast and top off to almost full hp.I remember the fight with the Blackmage chick in the steepe in stormblood, the one that has many phases, that was only possible with blackmage because of drain. So how will blm sustain his hp in clutch emergencies from now on? this is a big nerf that no one has mentioned but when you start doing stuff with blm youll feel it.Just because some people didn't use it at all dosent take away its value.

yup way nicer than the physic XD.i would still pop a physic in emergencies but it used to heal so low almost never bothered ((in a real reborn abit more cause hp maxes were lower)) been playing blm since 2.0

Yeah. I mained BLM in 2.x, and actually saved my party sometimes with Physick. X3 It was definitely less problematic pre-50 when you still had MND on your gear, though. I think we'll be okay without Drain, but it definitely came in handy occasionally.

Yeah totally agree we will be alright.I just find it distasteful when little tools are removed without giving something comparable back ((even if its a tad different but does a similar job)) like maybe a toggle that made ur next spell drain some of the damage done to life back, and give it a cooldown so it isn't broken

I’m gonna level with you, I can’t think of a clutch scenario I’ve encountered in which triple Drain would serve me better than either triple Fire 4 or triple Sleep. If you ever find drain helpful, odds are you’ve made a mistake.
