Bit sad to see some of these massive simplifications of people's arguments and taunting :/. Almost feels like I'm in a forum talking about US politics or something. "you mean to say -insert incorrect and clearly well poisoned example-". Not that I haven't seen a few who I thought might be a bit "too angry at SE" but the majority seemed not, and would be nice to talk to each other like adults rather than caricatures.
If they added another Amaro mount it'd probably (lol) have to be different than the one in the achievement, else it doesn't make too much sense. So this new reward would be one that isn't standard since the mount in the achievement is pretty much a standard Amaro.
So that means you could put in a lot of work for a normal Amaro or you can put in MSQ work to get a unique version (work in the sense it takes time, but obviously much less and also conveniently lined up with something the vast majority wants to do). That could be what SE intends to do though, not saying it's impossible :3.
Rather I think it would be better that the MSQ reward, in 5.3 or whatever, is normal and the achievement is special- a massive Amaro to represent your own Seto or even multicolored. Which as I said in OP I think would be very neat since a multicolored Amaro looks pretty much like Flammie from secret of mana... and I think that'd make the achievement very special.
To repeat, I've said it before in this thread, I don't think SE has committed some huge crime (it's not some malice or game destroying issue) and there shouldn't be an inquisition against SE lol..
But I do think it's out of the expectation, it's out of the expectation in a way that is not a 'pleasant surprise', and that it feels a little bit bewildering in a sense of missed opportunity in achievement and story presentation.
I mean achievement opportunity in that the Amaro are not really rare birds, so if you have to work hard for something that is common it's just a bit weirder than if you had worked hard for something that was rare (Amaro are the yellow chocobos of that shard, so it'd be almost akin to getting a naked basic yellow chocobo for leveling everything to 80). Some people would have been excited to level everything already, so obviously to them this is just a cherry on top, but for quite a few people they'd only be doing so for the reward specifically (so a bit of objectivity there). I think you'd be able to encourage more people who wouldn't have leveled up everything before more if it was a unique Amaro, vs as you see a number of people here going "i have do to what for a common bird? but why? just let me go to the market and buy one with gil" lol.
And on the story point I mean the story makes many comparisons to your Warrior of Darkness buddy, aligning you in a way that when you get to the point the story with Seto I felt strongly "OOOH I'M GOING TO GET THIS ONE, HYPE-- HE MISSES HE DADDY AND I'VE GOT SOME DADDY INSIDE ME--... wait that came out wrong.. I mean.. he's here with me.. ANYWAY SETO COME HERE, I TREAT YOU GOOD!". lol. Of course that never happens :P. When I left him there I thought oh maybe I'll get a normal Amaro instead, I guess Seto is a bit old... But that never happened too.
Ideally imo, with no actual "you have to do this SE or else" (because I don't feel that way), there would be a MSQ Amaro, a huge perhaps dual seater Seto mount for getting everything to 80, and then a multi-colored fae painted normal to medium sized amaro mount (that's basically FFXIV meets Secret of Mana Flammie). For those who've already received the normal Amaro they'd get the big version in the mail (or reacquire the achievement from vendor) and keep the normal version, the MSQ (normal) amaro will be put in some future content (those who already have it just have it early now), and obviously the beast tribe Amaro is whenever those are added. That's my "that'd be nice", but I wont dislike FFXIV any less if they didn't.. I've already got quite a few mounts that are my go to. I just find it a weird choice. That said I find the vast majority of ShB to be absolutely excellent so maybe the contrast makes it seem weirder lol (the few non-excellent choices appearing more like a stuck out nail then). "All of this done really really well, this semi-weird choice now feels really weird".

It's probably been brought up SOMEWHERE in this 21-page thread, but honestly, I feel like the Amaro mount should have been related to the Facet of Nourishing quests, given that that quest features an Amaro that takes a shine to the WoL. Either a reward directly from that Facet, or from the unified Facet quest that follows.
I know that wouldn't make the bulk of players happy, but it's not as though the current "everything to 80" does either - and dangit, Skip was practically BEGGING to be our mount!
I mean both sides of this argument make good points. It's not that hard to get all classes to 80 to obtain the mount, but it's a rather weird condition to have to meet for a mount that's not particularly rare in the universe, and makes more sense as a story reward as was done traditionally.
I'm ok getting a swanky mount as a reward for getting all classes to 80, I'm just not sure if the Amaro really fits that bill.
To be fair you get it from an NPC from the Source, while they might be plentiful on the First they are rare to non existent on the Source, at least in the regions we've been to.I mean both sides of this argument make good points. They dont exist at the source as Ronka(?) mages created em, much like allagan stuff like Ixal etc... but still, im glad we get one but i wished for smt special, not the default one you can rent lol
It's a reward for those who stick around and lvl everything. I only lvl casters so I won't be getting it anytime soon, if ever. Seems a silly thing to complain about to me. There are mounts that only crafters/gatherers can get. There are mounts only tanks can get. I don't see how this is different.
The difference is we always got the mount wich was shown in MSQ as a gift in that MSQ, except this time. People have expectations because of these previous instances, they let us even fly with the Amaro, but then they took away the candy box and placed it on the highest shelf in the kitchen, wich we can't reach. That's just mean...
I'm still confused as to wether SE wants me to play multiple jobs on a single char or not.
With weekly caps I can only gear one to an acceptable degree anyway, the others will always fall behind. With 2 chars you can gear each one, so you have more to do (even if it's only grinding), and you have actual choices to take any of them into high end content. Aside from DoH/DoL, having everything on 1 char means shooting yourself in the foot, yet we get rewards for doing it. The whole concept feels like no one ever thought it through.
Now if they raised the weekly cap for every max level job on your character, there would be an incentive to go that route without it feeling utterly pointless.

I had gotten it last week or so and the journey there was a trip. Playing jobs I'm not normally used to was an interesting experience and made me appreciate some more then others.
I considered DNC to be very boring at first due to the 50% chance procs and not as many tools available, but as soon as Esprit came into the picture with Saber Dance it became much more fun planning burst periods. En Evanting around three times made me also consider using DNC as my job in towns when I want to move around LMAO.
But yeah I'm happy there's a reward for outside of a crown for leveling them all but I'm still surprised a mount common to the First is given as the reward for leveling them all. I'm sure it's our expectations of mounts relating to the areas we visit being tied to MSQ, but I think it's a suckerpunch none the less.
