FFXI is still going after all these years. Even though it's not quite forever I think the point being made was that you have lots of time to obtain something (not just this mount), there is no urgency to get whatever it is immediately other than to gloat probably.

If you think the mount is lackluster and not worth the work, then why do you care it's hard to get, you likely wouldn't use it anyways.
If you think the mount is great and really want it, then it should be worth going through the trouble of leveling everything and gives you something to work towards, which is kinda a thing mmos need. It's not like leveling jobs is some impossible grind like the hunt mounts even.

I personally really wanted this mount ever since seeing it in the benchmark and while I also assumed it would be an msq reward and was a bit disappointed I didn't get it, ultimately I'm glad it's an achievement reward. The issue with msq mounts is that even if they look great(I love middy from HW for example), the fact that literally everyone has them, diminishes their value and makes me less likely to use them. With Amaro, a mount I really like, being locked behind an actual achievement, I will feel satisfaction and accomplishment once I finally get it and can proudly use it without feeling unoriginal.

It's still a substantial grind. I don't mind that there's a mount reward for leveling all jobs. My issue is that the basic Amaro seems like it doesn't fit the grind required. Because getting alljobs to 70 is still a big undertaking and time sink, for....the basic mount that everyone in the expansion uses. If was soemthing like say, the mechanical frog mount, or somethign special like that it wouldn't bug me.

I'm a bit late to all of this but to me it would make more sense to get this mount once you've done all 4 job quests instead of leveling up every single freaking class in the game. It would fit the story and theme too and still be a bit of work. Initially this is how I thout it was going to be. Level up a tank, a healer, 1 ranged dps and one magic dps and you get the mount. I do NOT enjoy certain classes and I refuse to do something I hate doing just for a @#$%%^ mount. If I wanted to do all that then I'd go back to wow. Just ridiculous.

I don't mind, I like that the game is rewarding long-term play with something like that. Gives a bit of a goal that can't be accomplished in a few hours.

I personally didn't mind it. It was something I wanted enough for this to be my fastest time in getting to all combat to max level in an expansion. If you count in the first few days of early launch when I couldn't play due to an eye injury, it barely took me 2 months to do.

Yeah I'm playing pretty casually compared to Stormblood coz of work and I have most the jobs done in 2 months. It only took me 6-7 weeks in Stormblood.
So its pretty possible I'll have it by 5.1
