Gunbreaker is boring and poorly designed for controller setup.

I really really wanted to like this class, but it has two glaring problems:

    - It’s boring. In spite of the vast amount of buttons is has, it boils down to two combos, the second one supposedly being the ‘burst’ you’re rewarded with. However, this burst falls short of the of the other tanks’ like WAR and DRK, who feel like they’re really hitting hard with their satisfying visual and aural feedback during this phase. Gunbreaker’s Gnashing Fang combo is visually indistinguishable from its regular combo, making it feel unrewarding.

    - It has too many buttons to comfortably play on controller. The aforementioned Gnashing Fang combo, used every 30 seconds, has four buttons and is incredibly awkward to set up on a PS4 controller. Ideally, you need to put multi-step combos on the face buttons so you can move while fighting, but that requires to put it on a separate hotbar, either pressing R1 and switching back every 30 seconds, or using the double-tap, and the frequency of this combo means this is a very painful, carpal tunnel-y design. The burst of WAR and DRK uses one or two buttons, yet for some reason they thought it’s a good idea to give GNB literal Dark Arts in Continuation, then make them use it three times in a combo, THEN switch to a normal combo.

These problems can fixed simply by:
    - Making the Gnashing Fang combo more visually and aurally interesting and impactful. Fell Cleave and the new Delirium outburst feel amazing, this doesn’t.
    - Making your primary combo turn to the Gnashing Fang combo on initial Continuation press or something so you don’t have to switch to another goddamn hotbar every couple of seconds.
    - Alternatively, extend the Gnashing Fang combo to 60 seconds while making it more powerful. Make it do crits or something.

I dont have a problem with the controller setup and dont see how you do but I know everyone has their hotbars/crosshotbars set up differently so I can't say much in the way of what's right or wrong.

I have my basic combo setup on one set of face buttons on the first crosshotbar and then the gnashing fang combo setup on the other face buttons on the first crosshotbar so there is no switching back and forth between hotbars.

Sorry if I don't make sense.

Makes complete sense. I did a mock up hotbar using the simulator for GNB and its surprisingly controller friendly compared to Paladin at least. For Paladin I've had to shuffle a lot around to get Atonement and Confiteor in a comfortable spot.

No you are making sense, but I’ve always had that space reserved for enmity grab, dungeon AoE, gap closer and Sprint, which would have to be moved elsewhere and they’re such essential actions themselves.

My only complaint is that I think Burst Strike should be OGCD. It doesn't break your combos and I get it's supposed to be your cartridge spender when you don't have gnashing fang, but really either that needs to be OGCD or Blasting Zone needs to cost a cartridge and have lower CD. At least IMO.

I think that would be a bit detrimental in that the gameplay would be even twitchier - we already have the gap closer with its two charges and Blasting Zone off global cooldown. It would feel like playing whack-a-mole.

I can understand that setup but I have my aoe and enmity grab on the second hotbar's face buttons along with the gap closer and sprint is on the same face button but on the 3rd hotbar for me, but that's what I would setup for all my jobs and what I grew accustomed to since most have a basic st combo and then some more st skills but only have so many aoe abilities.

Maybe. I just don't particularly like the skill at all. I get caught with it at awkward places.

It could just be inexperience since the class is fresh but there's been numerous times that I've been caught with one cartridge and Gnashing Fang is just low enough of a CD I feel forced to wait on that instead of using the GCD on Burst Strike and building up another cartridge. If it was OGCD I could actually spend it and then build another cartridge up before Gnashing Fang came off CD, at least in that circumstance.

That and it feels like everything is just sort of sticky on this class. Perhaps more skill speed would fix it for me.

I totally agree with the ‘almost on cooldown’ Gnashing Fang problem. The timing seems very awkward.

Perhaps I should just do what I should have done ages ago and map Sprint to L3 or R3 analog stick press via macro. It’s just so hard to break a habit
