    Yoshida-san,

I have played Final Fantasy XIV for a very long time and I've personally praised you on more than one occasions for bringing this glorious game back from the place it came from. To that end, I will always cherish the time I've spent playing, building friendships and bragging about how I feel this MMO has solved the itch that no other MMO has.

    Thank You!

With that being said however, I feel like this recent turn of events has left me feeling a little put off by the changes that Shadowbringers has brought. I myself, have played every class up to level 60 at least and some even up to level 70 with Stormblood. I am very much aware of the so called player skill gap between newer and older players such as myself. I have even taken it upon myself to teach those players who have a lesser understanding just to bring them closer to my skill level. Apparently this is not enough to get away from the over casualization of the game.

I don't believe that it is right to essentially bring those players who have taken the time to learn the intricacies of their preferred roles and bring them down to only doing one thing. I'm referring to the healers specifically with this point. I for one was very much so looking forward to the days of seeing myself dole out 4k plus DPS as a Scholar. While this may not be as high as some other players it was a milestone in my own mind. However, with these changes I feel like we'd would be lucky to achieve 1k DPS while maintaining the parties health.

So let's look at this from the newer players perspective for a moment. It is entirely up to that player to determine how much or how little effort they want to put into a game like this. If they want to become better at the job that they play they will put forth that effort. Likewise if they only want to loaf around and just see the sites that's on them.

Taking away the complexity of any job isn't the answer to this conundrum. I am only bringing this up because through your work and the work of your entire team at Square Enix's headquarters in Japan. You have made an HUGE impact on the community at large. That same community that is driven to being the most welcoming of newer players and even returning players. I've never come across another MMO community that has been this "well behaved", most of the time. I can and will acknowledge the faults of the so called "toxic" players out there. Surely though they can't make up the majority of this community?

I'll leave this thread to that same community that I've been talking about. Let them be heard and with a lot of love and a little effort. We can make this expansion the expansion it needs to be.
    Sadly, that is too stressful.

Yes, we can see the shift in focus more on the heal and the fact that i had to use even the emergency heal skills in a normal dungeon proves that.
Anyway i say let's reach level 80 and get some better gear before we throw this kind of messages around.
This can be discussed on the role subforum if you really want to engage in a good discussion and not throw random text .
Thank you. I dont think there is anything to discuss tbh. I was being hyperbolic because I too think that is way too early to tell. Especially calling out the game director himself.

That's what you say. Then there is the huge majority who says that Healers should dps more. What is it now that you want from your healers?

The vast majority of the community can't really handle difficulty of any kind. You need to give them everything on a silver plate otherwise they will complain it's too difficult. And god forbid you say anything about the fact that they should know their class and the basic game mechanics by the time they reach max level, you will be seen as an elitist with a massive ego.

That's the state of this community. Don't expect anything to be made harder.

The other day I got told I have a massive ego because I expect players above level 70 to understand stack markers.

I don't mind the change for the people who play Healers, they were getting stressed enough from the community (from what I've seen and heard the past few years) and this change is most welcome.

But, I understand not everyone agrees with the change.

Some of the changes were necessary. As someone who mains MCH, it just wasn't working well. The new actions and rotation, are way better. Sometimes overly complicated isn't needed.

These changes won't make healers do less DPS at all. Healers should have more engaging down-time. Be that dpsing, buffing, or even healing in a interesting way that's not "oh, lemme watch the tank hp for minutes till I can use an OGCD heal on it!". Everytime I get into a 70- content I can count with my fingers the times that I actually get to heal. And eventually, the current ShadowBringers content will also feel that way, after everyone is on lvl cap and with proper gear.
Making our dps even more boring will not fix the problem and if you think it does, then I suggest you actually play a healer before talking about a role you don't seem to understand? Thank you.

Anyway I agree with your comments. I'm enjoying the expac so far (specially story-wise), but I'm afraid with the steps Square Enix have been taking. I think that they should've made the rotations cleaner and even simpler, however things should've stayed engaging, we shouldn't have lost all those layers of complexity, and the rest of the game (which, truth be told, if you do your roulettes is something you'll still be playing a lot) shouldn't have suffered so much from it.
Players that put the effort to learn their class and give it all should be rewarded with it - at least with fun.

Maybe if the tanks stopped pulling everything i can DPS more. As it stands since every tank mega pulls i have to use absolutely everything just to keep them alive, i would LOOOOVE to throw out a Holy or two but as a healer my number one duty is to keep everyone alive. If that means it takes a bit longer to beat trash or a boss then so be it.

Sometimes, and much to my enjoyment, their response to nerf requests is simply, "Git Gud".
