HELP! No Voices in Voiced Cutscenes - W10 + Logitech G533

When watching cutscenes in Shadowbringers - I am not hearing voice acting voices - in scenes where I am 100% certain there should be. Headset is up to date, windows 10 64 bit.

I just unlocked flight in my third zone - made a comment to fc mate about how surprised I was they skimped on the voice acting, but still a good game regardless... They let me know, no, there have been tons of them. Began to investigate.

Went to the inn room and watching a previous scene. No voice acting - but with audio at 100% everything - I can hear the faintest of faint echo'ish sound of a voice. Messed with settings and devices and everything - couldnt get it to work.

STILL IN THE SAME CUTSCENE: Unplugged headset (wireless was tethered by usb, as had been off and on). Plugged in a NON usb headset, resumed scene, and I could hear the voices.

Anyone have the same issue and know how to fix this?

I'm having the same issue on Windows 7. I made sure all of my audio drivers were up to date, reset the computer and everything. This has been happening since 5.0.

I had the issue.

While headset plugged in, on your desktop left click over the sound icon at the bottom of the screen... Make sure the sound is actually playing out of the correct thing. Mine was set to my headset but not set to the game mode (for some reason there are dual channels)

I could hear music, combat and all that and the faintest voice in the background. Switched it over and everything worked just fone ... I hope this works for you

It's something to do with surround sound and the voices coming from the centre channel. If you have a surround sound setup, but for whatever reason your centre channel is disabled, you won't hear any voices. Sorry this is a big vague, but I hope it at least points you in the right direction.

Yeah you need to really boost your centre channel if you have a 5.1/7.1 setup.

How long have you been having this issue? Have you updated the audio drivers? Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

Try this as an FC member had the same issue:

Open Control Panel
Click Sound
Go to Recording Tab
Right click on "Stereo Mix" and disable it

I've had the same issue since starting Early Access on June 27th. Since starting the MSQ I have not heard any of the main character voices. Just the little background characters. Like the giggling of pixies. I've updated audio drivers. I changed my speakers to not be surround sound. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled.

So. After being on support chat with SE and trying different things. I'm actually wondering if this might be a Logitech 500s issue. If you go into sounds and configure the speakers and hit test, does all the "speakers" make sounds or just the left and right speakers? Because the sub woofer should make noise as well as all the "speakers" should still come out of the normal speakers. Basically the voice acting is trying to come through a "center speaker" and that's why we can't hear it. The firmware I have for the speakers is 122.2.22. Tried to dial it back, but that didn't work. Any thoughts?

Finally managed to fix mine tonight after going back to the wireless headset again.

What worked for me (Note: Logitech G533):

- UNINSTALL Logitech Game Hub - May or may not be a key part of this. Suspect not, but uninstalled it anyway.
- Go into Window Device Manager, find the G533 in the Sounds section...
- Right click, update driver
- Select device, and SWITCH IT from Logitech G533 to USB Audio.
- Reboot
- In the Logitech Gaming Software app, I disabled surround sound. Not sure if key or not.

But it's working now.
