Levelling SMN now, but PLD is looking very goooood as my main tank, I like what they did with it. Guess itll be Cecil Harvey time, and upgrade from DRK to PLD
I mean, you're the one that seemed to base your argument on causal at first so I don't see why I couldn't? I'm confused here, what is causal content? Myself I count it as anything not Savage or Extreme based at least until gear comes along.
But what you seem to be saying is half the tank kit doesn't seem to actually matter? Or at least didn't matter back then. You're telling me you could get away with not using tank stance or any of the CD's until ONLY a Tankbuster came along? I find that to be rather unlikely or at the very least, possible in a premade group that knows and trusts each other.
I did my job. I held hate, I used CDs, and I pushed to output as much damage as I could. And on the list of "Why are we failing" tank and healer DPS should be near the bottom, with "STOP DYING/MESSING UP" being near the top. Which is something everyone can do regardless of their role.
I'm sorry you don't sound casual. You sound like you're either an elite that believes the game has to be played one way only, or you're just repeating what they say. This is Heavensward accessories all over again.
If you feel confident and safe enough to not use CDs or Tankstances, fine. Go for it. I didn't, either as a Tank or a Healer. And if that makes me below casual fine, whatever, I'll still use my CDs when I think I need to.
And yet only the forum mathers seem to have problem with it. No one addressed this issue in game. Personally I perfer to play safer considering any number of mechanics can mess you up if you laser focus on DPS too much. At the very least until the fight is learned and practiced.Basic run-down of this comes down to simple logic. Blunting raid-wide AOE damage is and was basically meaningless. Dropping grit/going into your DPS stance was a massive DPS increase, and higher DPS = higher clear time. Something dies faster, that's a form of mitigation. This still applies but seeing as tank stances don't exist anymore, eh.
And yeah it still applies. Too bad DPS can't cry to us about "Not carrying them harder" now. No more crutch for them to blame anymore. That or people will continue to whine about how Tanks aren't doing enough damage STILL.

Jop. I don't care too much if a tank is 5% worse than another. Drk was fun because it hat a unique playstyle. I totaly get that other ppl prefere WAR oder PLD. But why did they have to change DRK in this way. Just leave it alone. Maybe not everyone want's to play it like it was in HW or SB, but some ppl loved it. Now it's just plane boring. You can spam 1 skill and feel happy about your "awesome" new 80 skill. For me it's just shiny and no soul anymoreGotta side with the ones not liking the Dark Knight changes. Since the release of Dark Knight, it was my go to Tank. I played Warrior and Paladin as well, but Dark Knight was always my favorite. I heard a lot of complaints about the Job in the past, but rarely ever cared about any of them. I was never a number cruncher, never will be. All that mattered to me was that the Job was fun to play. Mitigation might not have been optimal, it might not have been a beast like the Warrior, Blood Price was nerfed to oblivion (ok, that one bothered me >_< ), but to me, the Job was still fun to play. I always stuck with it and never wavered. But now... now I am contemplating switching to Gunbreaker, because Dark Knight ceased to be fun. It's a viable Tank, but it now feels boring, and that's the worst thing you can do to a Job.
Just thought I'd add my butthurt onto the pile here and say I also hate what they did to DRK. The previous way it was played at least had a bit of nuance to it. There was decision making depending on the fight and the situation. Now you just do a cookie-cutter rotation and pop TBN if there's a tank buster, and congrats son, you're playing DRK! It's honestly sad.
